Lions Net S2OO From Candy Sale Hie Halloween Candy Sales, conducted by the Cooleemee Lions' Club has proved to be a very successful event this year, with the club showing a profit of S2OO. The local Lions express their appreciation to the people in the community for their generous support. The proceeds from the sale will go entirely to the Lions White Cane Drive. The local club is seeking to raise $250 for White Cane and the candy sales have put than well on the way in reaching this goal. The money raised from lions Clubs throughout North Caro lina is used to assist the blind in our state in many ways. The commission for the Blind of N.C. receive a share of this money which is used to pay for operations for people who can not afford the cost and also for treatment to prevent blindness. A portion of this money is used to support the Eye Bank, the vital point of eye transplant, which enable people who are blind to receive sight. White Cane proceeds play an important part in giving overall aid to the blind in our state and the Lion's Clubs are proud of the share they are able to con tribute to this program. White Cane is an important function of the Cooleemee lions Club and the residents of our town have always been most generous in helping the club carry it's share of this program. «2nd Year WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 19,1969 12 Paget N* 46 COOUEEMEE, N.
