Ivey-Foster Vows Heard Mr. John Harris Ivey of Statesboro, Georgia announces the marriage of his daughter, Mattie Yvonne Ivey to Medford Foster of Cooleemee, on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 4:00 P.M. at the First Methodist Church of Statesboro. Miss Ivey is also the daughter of the late Mrs. Kitty Clyde Ivey. Miss Denny Lowe, cousin of the bride served as maid of honor. Mr. Hubert Foster, father of the groom, served as best man. Mr. Foster is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Foster of Rt. 4, Mocksville. Following the wedding, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Foster entertained with a reception in the fellowship room of the church. Those attending the wedding from here were Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell Foster, of Rt. 4, Miss Pat Fry of Cooleemee, Mrs. Johnnie Davis and daughter, Gaylene, of Rt. 2 and Mrs. Barbara Vickers of Rt. 4. The couple will make their home at Rt. 5, Mocksville. Brevard Homecoming Plans for the 36th annual Homecoming at Brevard College, scheduled for October 10, have been announced by the college's alumni office. According to Mrs. Imogene M. Eaker, alumni secretary, all friends and former students of the college are invited to attend Homecoming 1970, which will begin with registration and a coffee hour at 10:00 a. m. in the Beam Administration Building. Alumni are invited to inspect the Homecoming displays built by various student groups prior to lunch in the A. G. Myers Dining Hall. All dormitories will observe open house from 11:00 a. m. until 1 p. m. At 2 p. m. Brevard faces Oxford College in a soccer match. Before the match, Brevard's nationally-ranked cross-country team will host Milligan College, Wingate College and Steed College in a four-way cross country meet. Homecoming activities will continue after the soccer game with a barbecue being served at 5 p. m. at Bosh am er day's festivities will conclude with the Homecoming Dance at 8:00 p. m. in the auditorium of the Dunham Music Center. "We hope that many of our alumni will make their plans to return to the campus to see the progress that has been made in recent years on our campus," stated Mrs. Eaker. Mizell To Attend Republican Open ing. The Davie County Republican Headquarters will open Saturday, October 10 at 12:00 p. m. Fifth District Congressman Wilmer D. Mizell will be present for the opening. The Headquarters are located in the Mocksville Hotel Lobby on North Main Street. The Davie County Republican Fund Raising dinner will be October 10 at 7:00 p. m. at the Davie County High School Cafeteria. Congressman Mizell will speak at this event. All precinct chairman have tickets, and tickets will also be available at the door. The Davie County Republican Executive Committee will meet October 8, 1970, at the Republican headquarters at 7:30 p. m. All members are urged to be present. Lorene Grubb Attends Beauty Festival Lorene Grubb of Lorene's Beauty Center attended the Carolina Beauty and Harvest Festival which was held at the Whitehouse Inn at Charlotte, N. C., Sunday and Monday, Oc tober 4th and sth. The show was sponsored by the State Beauty and Barbers Supply Company of Charlotte, N. C. and Columbia Beauty and Barber Supply of Columbia, S. C. The classes which Mrs. Grubb enjoyed most were: Fashion Tress Wigs and hair pieces, wig fitting, altering, cutting and styling was taught by the famous Evelyn James. Classes, on cuts and styles were taught by Cecilia Johnson, and another artist in another class of the same was Donald DeGeorge. Cooleemee Journal, Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1970 The most interesting class featured guest artists, Richard Ombres and Lois Lackey in cutting and styling and also some helpful hints to all hair dressers. These two artists presented their classes with a signed certificate of at tendance. An interesting attraction at the show was an automatic head washer, which is installed somewhat like an automatic washer. N.C. State Sets Open House Oct. 10 Saturday, Oct. 10, has been set aside for the annual "Open House" for high school students at North Carolina State Univer sity. The day is sponsored, jointly, by the School of Agricul ture and Life Sciences, and the School of Forest Resources. 11
