They left Thursday for Myrtle Beach, where they will spend a week. Their two little boys will stay in Raeford with their grand mother, Mrs. A. J. Fuller and aunt. Mrs. Dwight Brown, while their parents are at the beach. Sanatorium A3rrshire8 Top Producers The purebred Ayrshire dairy herd at North Carolina Sanator ium. McCain, N. C., has achieved top recognition during a recent month for outstanding production. The Sanatorium producers are credited with averaging 916 lbs. of 3.8% milk and 35 lbs. of butter- fat for the respective testing month, which places them among the nation’s top Ayrshire herds in the A>'Tshire Herd Test Division of 75 to 100 cows. In computing this average the Ayrshire Breed- 'ers’ Association includes every cow in the herd either milking or dry. Spivey, has left for the far East War Area. Gen. Spivey has been stationed in Washington, D. C., for the past three years. He was a prisoner of war for two years in the last war. Ms. W. S. Gatlin, Jr., returned from Moore County hospital Sat urday. The family left Sunday for their cottage at Topsail Beach to spend some time while Mrs. Gat lin is convalescing. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond McLean and daughters left Wednesday of last w^eek for Quitman, Georgia, for a visit with Mrs. McLean’^ relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Grim of Stanton, Virginia, and Dr. and Mrs. K. B. Grim and daughter of Liberty joined Mrs. Mary Mc- Bryde and Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Smith. Jr., and children here Sun day and they all went to White Lake for a picnic supper. Mrs. W. E. Freeman of Aber deen and Mrs. Hallie Gatlin are leaving today for Ridgecrest to attend the W.M.S. Conference for the next ten days. They will be joined by Mrs. T. B. Lester. Sr., of Newberry, S. C. Mrs. Neil Senter has as her guest this week, Mr. Senter’s niece, Miss Mary Glenn Johnson, of Kip ling. Langis and children of Massachusetts, who are visiting Mrs. Langis’ par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander, ac companied Miss Richardson and Miss Gteen to Greensboro and stayed until yesterday. L. B. Poole of Belmont was a week-end guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Alexander. Mrs. Poole and children, who spent last week here, returned to Belmont with him Sunday. Lt. and Mrs. John J. Wilson have given up the apartment they occupied in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Baucom. Lt. Wilson is being sent to Japan and Mrs. Wilson returned to her home in Davenport, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur D. Gore and Misses Jane McKeithan, Bev erly Hodgin, and Fanette Gore visited Miss Gwen Gore at Caro lina and Miss Anne Gore at Duke University Sunday. While at Duke they attended the Carolina Recital by Anton Brees. Miss Fanette Gore remained for a few days to participate in the Duke Campus swimming and tennis events. Mrs. Joe Parker came to Rae ford to spend the -week-end with her sister, Mrs. Lawrence Poole. She brought Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Cobb, who have an apartment in her home with her. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dezerne spent Sunday at Carolina Beach. Mrs. Bill Fann accompanied her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Graham Fisher of Albemarle, to Windy Hill to spend this week. Mr. and Mrs. Berder Niven are moving into their new brick home at Sunset Hills this week. Miss Nita Gulledge returned home Saturday after having spent the past four weeks in Pennsyl vania and New Jersey. While away she visited Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Montague, Jr., at Yeadpn, Pa., and her last year’s roommate at ECTC, Miss June Prichard in Upper Monclair, New Jersey. Miss Pritchard accompanied Miss Gull- edge to New York for a few days for a visit with friends. Mrs. Wood is the former Miss Mary Ida Walters, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Walters. Mr. and Mrs. Pat Walker and son, Edward, of Fresno, California, are visiting Mrs. Walker’s mother, Mrs! N. A. MacDonald, Sr. Mrs. Floyd McMillan and .son of Red Springs and Mrs. James Stephens left yesterday for Camp Stewart, Ga., and will spend a week there while their husbands are in camp. Mr. and Mrs. Ashton Cough- enour and children, Harold and Betty’ Lou McDiarmid, left last week for their home in Ft. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Green and Frances Ward returned to Raeford Sunday after spending last week in IMorehead City ih the home of Mrs. Green’s sister, Mrs. Calvin Jones. They came by Swansboro and spent the week-end with Mrfe. Green’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hatsell, and Frances Ward was accompanied home by her cousin, Carrie Milstead, who is spending this week with her. Mr. and Mrs, H. D. Harrison, .Tr., and baby, David Jay, visited during the past week-end in the home of Mrs. Harrison’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Baucom. y.
