spoke their wedding vows Saturday
September 25 at New Pilgrim
Holiness Church in Raeford. Elder
Mary Graham of New Pilgrim
Church of Raeford officiated.
Wedding music was presented by
Kevin Scott of Winston-Salem as
pianist. Mrs. Patricia Shields of
_ Winston Salem, sister-in-law of
V the groom, Rene Williams of
Newton Grove and Michael Scott of
Winston Salem served as vocalists.
The altar arrangement consisted
of pink and white silk flowers with
green leaves, candelabras and
kneeling bench. The flowers and
arrangement were furnished by
Hollingsworth Florist.
Escorted by her father, the bride
^ wore a long white gown with small
^ pleats in the front which were
trimmed with lace. She wore a
white veil trimmed with lace. She
carried a bouquet of white silk
roses with small rose colored roses
intertwined, with long white ribbon
streamers.
Deborah Jones, sister of the
bride was maid of honor. She wore
a long pink polyester gown draped
with a silklike capelet and carried a
? small bouquet of pink and white
silk carnations with pink ribbon
streamers.
The bridesmaids were Donyea
Dockery, Brenda Graham, Mrs.
Shirley Hough, cousins of the
bride, Mrs. Sherry Jones, sister-in
law of the bride, Gail Shields, sister
of the groom, Yvonia Gilmore,
Tawanna Graham, Debra Joyner,
Valerie Purdie and Pamela
? Warren, friends of the bride.
Their dresses were rose colored
and made similar to that of the
bridesmaid.
The flower girl was Tamecia
Jones, niece of the bride./ She was
escorted by James Jones, Jr.,
nephew of the bride. The ring
bearer was Keith Shields, nephew
of the croom.
Wallace Shields, Jr.. brother ol
the groom, served as best man.
? The groomsmen were Kenneth
Shields, Terry Shields, Timothy
Shields, brothers of the groom,
David A. Jones, Terry Jones, Curtis
Jones, brothers of the bride, Kevin
Cash, Michael Scott, Jerry Scott
and Ernest Scott, friends of the
groom.
Following the ceremony, dinner
was served in the church dining hall
^ which consisted of ham, chicken,
? potato salad, string beans, and
rolls. The wedding cake was made
by Mrs. Reatha Long of Raeford.
The couple will make their home
in Winston-Salem.

The descendants of Jeptha
Franklin and Sally Kelly Jordan
met for an annual reunion on
Sunday, September 26, 1982 at the
home of Mrs. Julius F. Jordan with
Mrs. Faye B. Jordan, co-hosting. A
buffet was served to 44 at a sit down
dinner.
Children and spouses of the late
Jordans were Dr. and Mrs. C.B.
Randall of Kinston, Dr. and Mrs.
Milton Jordan of Fairmont and Dr.
Riley Jordan of Raeford.
Grandchildren and great grand
children came from Jacksonville,
Kinston, Cary, Fayetteville,
Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Lum
berton. Lumber Bridge, Greenville,
Raleigh and Raeford, North Caro
lina.
Out-of-state relatives came from
Beaufort, South Carolina, DeLand,
Florida, and Atlanta, Georgia.

spent several days this week in

McDonald's sister, Mrs. Claude
Bishop.

Harris of Fayetteville spent the
week-end with their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Jeff Harris.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Dickson return
ed Saturday after a trip of several
weeks to Niagara Fall and through
Ontario.
Mrs. J.W. Graham returned last
week after a two week visit in the
home of her son and daughter-in
law, Mr. and Mrs. Worth Graham,
Jr. and family in Virginia Beach.
They visited Williamsburg, York
town and other places of interest
during her stay, visited in the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Luke Wood of
Virginia Beach, formerly of Rae
ford.

Mrs. John Campbell was hostess
for her bridge club on Wednesday
afternoon of last week.
Mrs. Neill McFadyen and Mrs.
Neil Senter were visitors. Invited
for the dessert course before the
game were Miss Elizabeth Hoyle
and Mrs. Laura Thomas of Fort
Lauderdale, Fla., sisters and
houseguest of Mrs. Tommie Up
church and Mrs. Upchurch. They
were both remembered with a gift.
At the conclusion of the game
high scorers were Mrs. Colon
Scarborough, club member, and
Mrs. McFadyen, visitor. Both were
presented prizes.
Mrs. Jordan
Mrs. Jerry Jordan entertained
members of her bridge club and
visitors Mrs. William McDonald,
Mrs. Jimmy James and Mrs. Rich
Morin on Tuesday evening.
Upon arrival guests were served a
dessert course and coffee, iced
drinks and snacks were served
during progressions.
Gub high scorer was Mrs. Jack
Scarborough, second high, Mrs.
Steve Phillips, consolation, Mrs.
Rick English. Mrs. Rich Morin
won the visitor's high score.
Correction
In last week's News-Journal it
was erronously reported that Mike
Jordan was connected with the
Northwestern Bank in Greensboro.
He is still with First Union Bank in
Greensboro, where he and his
family have recently moved from
Charlotte, where he was also with
First Union Bank.

mans Club met in the home of Mrs.
D.B. McFadyen Tuesday evening,
September 28, for a covered dish
supper.
Mrs. Clara Pope, president of
the Raeford Woraans Club was a
special guest.
The buffet table and small tables
where guests were seated were
centered with miniature arrange
ments of fall flowers.
Mrs. Robert Townsend, chair
man of the department, presided
over the business session, following
the supper. Mrs. Townsend pre
sented a calendar of cultural events
in this area and from this calendar
members selected events which they
planned to attend as a group. The
events chosen include "Encore,"
"The Fantastics," "The North
Carolina Symphony", "The Wash
ington Ballet" and "The Singing
Christmas Tree."
Adjusting
On Monday, Oct. 1 1 at 7:30
p.m., there will be a meeting of the
group called "Adjusting" at Way
side Community Building.
The group consists of people who
have lost loved ones. It is really
great to talk with people who know
how you feel. Come and join us. It
can help.

Engaged Couple
A buffet supper was held on
Saturday evening at Buoyers Cabin
honoring Mitchell Cox and Janie
Scarboro.
Hostesses for the occasion were
Mrs. Jeannie Carroll, Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Holland, Mr. and Mrs.
Tommy Pickler and Mr. and Mrs.
Homer Tuttle.
Red and White tablecloths were
used on individual tables, centered
with fruit arrangements.
Approx. 30 guests enjoyed baked
ham, potato salad, string beans
and apricot cake.
The hostesses remembered the
bridal couple with a blender.
Mitchell and Janie will be mar
ried on October 16 at the Episcopal
Church in Rockingam.
The bride-elect is the daughter of
Mrs. Max Smith of Monroe and the
late Charles Scarboro.
The groom-elect is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert M. Cox, Jr. of
Raeford.
Chaminode Meets
The Chaminade Music Club will
meet at the Wagon Wheel at 7:45
p.m., Tuesday 12th. There will be a
