News From Antioch
Family Needs Help
bj Ruth Ansley
The family of Mattie Rose Clark
needs your help.
Mattie, and her family of two
children, plus her sister and her
family of 3 children are victims of a
fire which completely destroyed
their home in the Antioch Com
munity, of Hoke County.
Winter is just around the corner,
but these two families don't even
have a coat to wear.
At the moment they are staying
with kind friends but hope to
eventually have another home of
their own.
Won't you help by sharing
something in your kitchen, or other
household goods that you seldom or
never use?
Perhaps you could go through
your closets too and find some good
clothes of the following sizes:
Misses sizes 12 and 18 and chil
drens sizes for girls 8, 12. In
Raeford please call this number
after 6:30 p.m. 875-2234, and in
Antioch, the Mt. Elam Baptist
Church 843-5017 or Antioch Pres
byterian Church 843-4860.
Johnny Smith Honored
By Hillcrest Baptist
On October 3 as the new year
began for Southern Baptist
Churches across our state, those at
Hillcrest Baptist Church rejoiced to
honor one of their own.
During the 11 a.m. service on
October 3, Brother Johnny Smith,
the son of the late Archie Smith,
Route 4, Raeford received recogni
tion for 19 years of perfect atten
dance in the teaching ministry (the
Sunday School) of the church.
Johnny is an employee of Burl
ington Mills and a member of
Hillcrest Baptist Church.
His hobbies are bowling and
ceramics.
What a joy to pay him this honor
in a time when many churches are
struggling to enroll faithful atten
dance of its members.
During these 19 years I am sure
Johnny had many opportunities to
stay home, but church members
rejoice that his determination
brought him faithfully to his
church each Sunday.
Members thanked Johnny for the
challenge to be faithful to our Lord
each Lord's day.

JUST KIDDING ?? These goats of David Warren a on Warren 's pasture on N.C. 211 near Montrose add interest
to the countryside. Warren says they also keep the pasture grass down. The big one with the horns in the right
front part of the picture is a billy. A chicken \at right near the tree] was visiting when the picture was taken.
Neither the goats nor the chicken minded.
