Fall Athletes Honored
At Hoke High Awards Day
Awards Day for the fall sports
was held on Wednesday in cere
monies held at Hoke High.
During the ceremony awards and
honors earned in Hoke High's fall
sports were presented the Hoke
Athletes. Athletes from Varsity
!Football, Cross-Country and Girl's
Volleyball and Tennis were
honored.
"This is a different procedure
and something new we are trying,"
Hoke Athletic Director Bill Colston
said.
"In the past awards have been
given at the end of the year at the
Annual Athletic Banquet which is
sponsored by the Booster Club. The
Hoke Coaching Staff has decided to
change this for two reasons.
"One, we are trying to increase
school spirit and the morale of our
athletes by presenting the awards to
the athletes in an assembly involv
ing the entire student body.
"Secondly, we are trying to save
time at the Athletic Banquet in the
Spring. Under the new format we
will have an awards ceremony for
fall sports, one for winter sports
and one for spring sports in
addition to the Athletic Banquet,"
Colston said.
In the ceremonies Wednesday,
four members of the Varsity Foot
ball team were honored.
Senior Lee McNeill was named
the MVP for the 1982 season.
