Poor Free Throw Shooting Gives Pinecrest A Victory > Poor free throw shooting "down the stretch" was a major factor in the Hoke High varsity Bucks' loss to Pinecrest last week, Head Coach Greg Killingsworth said. "We just could not hit our free throws," Killingsworth said. During the ballgame, the Bucks were 9 for 22 at the free throw line while Pinecrest was 27 of 31. "We only hit 44"Vo from the free throw line." Killingsworth said. "That really hurt us," he added. Despite "poor" free throw shooting, Killingsworth said he did not want his team to "dwell on it." "We will go back to the drawing board and shoot more and more from the lane during practice," Killingsworth said. "It is just one of those things you don't need to dwell on," he added. Killingsworth also credits Pinecrest's full court pressure for putting the Bucks behind. "They determined the tempo of the game with their full court pressure," Killingsworth said. Despite the 60-55 defeat last week, Killingsworth is still "confi dent" in his team. "There have been a whole lot of little things. ..injuries and sickness. ..that have hindered our play," Killingsworth said. With key players Tony McRae and Preston Ross seeing very little action due to sickness, Kill ingsworth has gone to his bench for help and support. "Ronnie Melvin gave us a big lift the other night, coming off the bench and scoring 12 points," Kill ingsworth said. "If we can get everybody well down the stretch, I think we can still be a strong opponent," he added. The Bucks hold a 6-7 overall record and a 1-4 conference status this season. Tony McRae led the Bucks last week against Pinecrest, scoring 16 points. Barrett Easterling scored 15, Ronnie Melvin scored 12, Preston Ross added six points while James Graham, Marco Pickett and John McDuffie tossed in a shot, scoring two points each. DORAMNQCII Sports ~ ? ? r Where is the ball? Although Hoke player Tony McRae (#34) and two recent opponents appear to be struggling for possession of the basketball, it looks as if no one is really sure '-hat happened to the ball.
