N f SB District Personnel Darleae Qsraer District Secretary The Hoke Soil and Water Conservation District is a Subdivision of State Government. It Is responsible for the overall soil and water conservation program In Hoke County and Is governed by a board of Supervisors. 1984 was proclaimed A Year of Conservation In North Carolina In observance of the 50th anniversary of Soil and Water Conservation. DISTRICT ACCOMPLISHMENTS ? Published FY 1983 Annuel Report In The News-Journsl ? Conducted Environmental Education Clssses for all 4th, 9th and 6th grede students ? Distributed 300 conservation cartoon booklets with teacher guides to each elementery school ?Attended Pall Rally of Area VII Soil and Water Conservstlon Districts ? Distributed 10,000 white, loblolly and longleaf pine seedlings ?Attended Annual meeting of N.C. Association of 8oll and Water Conservation Districts ? Paid National, State and Area dues ? Distributed wildlife seed to 13 applicants ? Distributed 1900 bulletin covers and 900 bulletin Inserts to locel churches In observance of Soil Stewardship Week (May 27-June 3) ? Placed conservation cartoon booklets In children's room In public llbrsry ? 3 applications for fish were taken ? Submitted 12 articles to local newspapers ?
