"1 Do, I Do" stars Jeanne Adams and Ken Koonce formerly of Raeford, and seen recently at Mannie's in "The King and I" and "Baby." Many famous couples have starred in the show since Robert Preston and Mary Martin premiered the Broadway run, including Robert Goulet and Carol Lawrence who headed the first national tour. The most familiar Tom Jones song from the score is "My Cup Runneth Over" made famous by the Ames Brothers record hit. July 3 &j|& EVELYN ??CHAMPAGNE" KING - The KOOL Super Nights Salutes the Military Concert Series, which has brought such talented stars as Jan and Dean, Jerry Butler, Peaches and Herb, Charly Mc Clain, the S.O.S. Band and others to Fort Bragg in the past four years, is planning to make the 1985 concert another memorable event - with the ex traordinarily talented Evelyn "Champagne" King! King will perform a free outdoor concert at Fort Bragg's Hedrick Stadium on July 3 beginning at 7:30 p.m. and everyone is in vited to attend. Thursday July 4 ALL AMERICA - An All America Fourth of July will be observed in downtown Fayet teville this year. The Otde Fayetteville Association has lots of goodies planned for the whole family. Games for the children will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Green Street in front of City Hall. There will be an egg toss, pie-eating contest, watermelon scramble and sack races. At 6:30 p.m. the Fayetteville Sym phony and Fayetteville Com munity Chorus, under the direction of Harlan Duenow, will present a free concert of All American music - including a special presentation of the parade of flags. Hot dogs and soft drinks will be available - or you may bring your own pic nic. Folding chairs or blankets are suggested. An added special attraction - beginning at 8 p.m. the popular Top-40 band "Razor" will be in Fayetteville for a concert on the Olde Fayetteville Commons. LUMBER RTVER REGATTA - Celebrate the Fourth of July with your family and friends at the Tenth Annual Lumber River Raft and Canoe Regatta to be held at Riverton Park in Wagram. The Regatta will feature Homemade Raft Races, Tube Races, and Canoe Races on the Lumber River. In addi tion, live music will be provid ed by "Country Coo kin" and contests will include "Legs Contest" for Men and Ladies, and Seed-Spitting and Bubble Gum Blowing Contests for children. Something new has been added to the Regatta this year; a "Sprint to the River" run sponsored by Scotland Memorial Hospital. The 3.1 mile run will begin at 8 a.m. from Ri vert on Park. Jaly 6 SATURDAY SINGING - The Living Faith Ministries will hold a Saturday Night Singing on Jaly 6 from 7 p.m. featuring Pamela Furr and the Oospilite Singers of Vass. The public is invited. Jaly *-7 HUSOM ? The seventh annual Two-Man Better-Ball Golf Tournament sponsored by the Humane Society of Moore County (HUSOM) will be held Jaly 6 A 7 at Mid Pines Resort. Jaly 8, 9 AUDITIONS - The Fayet teville Dinner Theatre at Bordeaux announces auditions for the First North Carolina Production of "A Chorus Line," the longest running show ever to be presented on Broadway. Candidates are to prepare a one-minute song and a one-minute monologue and bring music. Dancers should be prepared to dance. Auditions will be held in the Showroom of 'the Bordeaux Motor Inn from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Mon day and Tuesday evenings - Ju ly 8 and 9. A sign-up sheet will be available at the Showroom on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Audi tioners may sign up for a specified time for either night at that time. The show opens in late August and the producers request no phone calls, but recommend pictures and resumes at audition. All parts are open. UNIFORMS SOUGHT - The Hoke High Marching Band has gotten bigger each year. In order for these children to march, they must have a uniform. Any former member who may have forgotten to return their uniform or some part of it, please do so. Jaly 4 LANDFILL OPEN - The Hoke County landfill will be open on Jaly 4. UNDERSTUDIES - The Out door Drama "Strike at the Wind" according to Director David Oxendine is in the pro cess of seeking understudy peo ple for the following roles: Moraa Cumbo ? age 36-60, Brant Harris 30-45, Hector Mc Cord 35-40, Dolly King 20-25, John Saunders, 25-35, Donahoe McQueen, 25-35, Shoemaker John 30-50. These roles will begin rehearsal July 17. 1985 at 7:30 at the Lakeside Amphitheatre. The purpose of this is in the event the actor or actors playing the role present ly can't make the performance, the understudy will perform it. The pay for understudies will be negotiated. Summer reading is magical By Elizabeth Burgess Hoke County Librarian Seventy-five children and adults enjoyed watching children's librarian, Betsy McNeill, perform many magic tricks during the first session of the SUMMER READING PROGRAM last Tues day. We were delighted with the big turn out, and the audience was delighted and entertained with Bet sy McNeill's splendid perfor mance. The children received book bags, a book on magic tricks and refreshments. We will have our se cond program on July 9 from 10 until 10:45 a.m. The program will be CLAY AND FINGER PAINT. (Wear old clothes) The Mother's Story Time follows the SUMMER READING PROGRAM at 11:00 on Tuesday mornings. The eleven o'clock story Library News time is our regular pre-school pro gram .
