DEADLINES: Weddings & Engagements, Thursday 5 p.m. Other Social Items, Monday 5 p.m. Psyche Me Up' is topic for Chaminade Music Club Mwnbers of the Chaminade Music Club were entertained by a speaker from Methodist College during a September 10 meeting. The club held the first meeting of the year at the Hoke County Library, with President Mrs. L.S. Brock Jr. presiding during the business session. Mrs. William Colston, program leader, introduced Mr. Jack Peryrouse, from Methodist Col lege, who entertained the club as he explained how he motivated students and steered them toward the study of drama in his presenta tion, "Psyche Me Up." Hostesses, Mrs. Jake Austin and Mrs. William Colston, served refreshments to the members and guests. The club welcomed three new members; Mrs. Frank Crumpler, Mrs. Neill McDonald, and Mrs. Harry Williamson. Bridge tourney planned On Thursday, September 19, a gala bridge afternoon is planned for Turkey Festival celebrants. Organizers Mrs. Betty Barnhart and Mrs. Marguerite Thomas report that many people are help ing prepare for a lovely party. Homemade goodies are being bak ed by Hoke County women. The Hoke Civic Center is to be decorated and inviting. Prizes will be presented for high score and second high for the afternoon's play. Each table's high scorer will also receive a prize. Gifts have been donated by the Calico Corner, Home Food, Ann's House of Beauty, Jean's Beauty Salon, Neil and Mary Helen Senter, and the N.C. Turkey Festival committee. Bridge players and enthusiasts of other card games are encourag ed to arrange a table or join a group for play. The entry fee is $2.50 per porson. The time and place are 2:00 Thursday at the Civic Center. Personals Mrs. Jessie Jones and Mrs. Betty Barnhart were hostesses when their bridge club spent several days last week in the Southwell Cottase at Holdens Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Picklesimer of Lexington, Ken tucky came for a visit with their daughter, Mrs. Bobby Lcntz, and her family. Stephen Lentz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Lentz, celebrated his sixteenth birthday with some friends at Sha Boom in Fayetteville on Saturday, Sept. 14. Mrs. Herman will be a delegate. The Chapter voted to make con tributions to the Mill-Prong pro ject in addition to the War Monu ment to be built on the Courthouse lawn. Plans were made and commit tees appointed, Miss McFayden encouraged all members to work to secure new members.
