FLETCHER Passes Away in Elkin Hospi tal Following Critical Illness BURIED AT BOONVILLE Attended by a throng of peo ple that taxed the capacity of the church, funeral services were hejd Friday morning at 11 o'clock from Boonville Methodist church for James Ralph Fletcher, 37, of > Boonville and Elkin. The rites tarere in charge of Rev. J.«H. Greene, pastor of the deceased, assisted by Rev. J. P. Davis. Mr. Fletcher passed away in r the local hospital late Wednes day afternoon following a critical illness. The deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Fletcher, of Boonville, and was a' member of the Boonville Methodist church. He was a young man of sterling character and was admired by* a host of friends. For several years he had been a-ssociated with Chatham Manufacturing com pany of this city as foreman. He was twice married, first to Miss Hilda Frye, of Boonville, and after her death to Miss Eliz abeth Evans, of this city, who 1 daughter, Nancy Lee, of the id marriage, and four chil , Lucille, Daphne, Carolyn James of the first marriage. Other survivors are his parents, two brothers, Neal Fletcher, of Monroe, and Billy Fletche,r of Boonville, and thee sisters, Mrs. Fred Key, of Boonville, Miss Mary Fletcher, of Elkin, and Miss Ruth Fletcher, of Raleigh. Pallbearers were department foremen of the Chatham Manu facturing company. , A beautiful and profuse floral tribute was evidence of the es ± teem in which the deceased was J held. si Interment was in the family y plot in the Boonville cemetery. 0 MOUNTAIN PARK Mrs. W. L. Hanes and Mrs. W. V. Luffman, of State Road, spent Wednesday afternoon with Mrs G. W. Hanes. Mr. J. Van Byrd and Miss Joyce Byrd. of Benham, spent the week-end with Misses Irene and Vetra Hanes. Mrs. H. P. Byrd and son, Ev erette, and daughter, Lois, of Benham, were visitors in the of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. JSkanes Sunday. V Miss Klejn Thompson, of Mt. ™Airy, spent last week with her ' mother, Mrs. Betty Thompson. Little Miss Geratha Thompson is improving nicely from a tonsil operation. Miss Emma Jane Linville was honored on her 17th birthday Saturday night, October 21, with a birthday party. It was given in the yard of her home. Several games were enjoyed. Miss Alice Thompson and Mr. Bob Sprinkle were winners of the contest. Hallowe'en decorations were used. Peanuts were roasted and popcorn popped at the outdoor furnace. Also apples and candy were served to the guests. The honoree was the recipient of many nice gifts. Mr. Paul Collins is teaching a singing school this week at Mountain Park Baptist church, every evening at 7:00 o'clock. Ev eryone is invited to attend. Mr. and Mrs. P. C.
