The Pythian batquet will be held on the second floor of the Armory building to-night The ball will he ... held on the third floor. Tickets to the banquet are 75 cento, and dan -e tickets admitting gentleman and lady are $1.50. Zella Whitfield, a negro womnn living on the plantation of Mr. B. G. Thomison, in Fork township, died on Wednesday night. She claimed to be a ceiiteuarian and the claim goes undisputed. She was a good old darky. Peace to her ashes. County Commissioner J. M. Wood was in the city to-day on his way to Pollocksville, in Jone county, ti at tend the funeral of his sister 'Mrs J A. Harper, whose death occuired this morning, She was 60 years old and leaves betides her husband a family of seven children, all grown. The old building formerly occu pied as city headquarters on Walnut street, is being torn down to make room tor a targe building in which will be four large sized store rooms. The building will be two stories high. It is understood that all the store rooms have been rented al ready. The voting contest that has been In vogue at the Knights of Pythias Fair over the most popular young lady will close this evening and the beautiful souvenir will be presented to the wiuning young lady at the dance to-nifcbt. The presentation will be made by Mr. J. Unghorn Barham, the youngest member of the Goldsboro Bar. The Pythian fair, which has been In vogue In this city this week, has been a great success irom a social standpoint as well as financially. It Is estimated now that Uuffln Lodge Knights of Pythias, under whose auspices the fair has been held, will realize about $1,200 profit from the undertaking. The object of the fair is to raise money to add to the build ing fund which the Pythians are ; raising to erect a handsome building on their vacant lot adjoining the Opera House. Rt Rev. Lee Ilaid, D. D. O.S B arrived In the city to day from New beru, and Is the gu st of Mr. Richard G. Freeman. He will preach in St M-jry's Catholic church this evening at 7:30 o'clock, and to-morrow morn ing at 9 o'clock will administer con flrmation to postulants and bestow the pupal benediction, which ha delegated to do, on the occasion of his recent visit to Rome, as one of me iai commissions or me late Vom Leo. Bay Hidgc Train Collided With Empty Cars and Two Are Killed Instantly. New York, Nov. 11). As the re sult of a rear end collision to-day be tween a Bay Ridge train, containing about a hundred passengers and a train of live empty cars, both of which were bound for the Brooklyn Bridge on the Fifth avenue branch of the Brooklyn Elevated lluilroad, two men were killed, one was fatally hurt ami a number of others receiv ed uevere iuluries. The accident wan due to the Bay Itldge train running Into the empty care. Immediately after the crash, two cars of each train caught fire from the electric connections on the UL" structure. Many passengers on the Bay Itldge train were pun le st rlcken and made frantic attempt toewape from the cars. Some ol them Jumped to the streets ud re ceived injuries. ' The bodies of the motorroun and conductor of the Bay Kidure train were found lo the first car. Both1 jhad been burned to a crisp.
