PROPOSED APPLICATION DESCRIPTION The Town of Magnolia proposes to undertake a project in a target area in the vicinity of East Sandy Street on the southeastern side of the Town of Magnolia. Activities to m be undertaken will include im provements to the central water and sewer systems as well as street and drainage improvements. Im provements to the substandard houses in the area are also pro posed as well as demolition to the dilapidated units of the area. The Town also proposes to undertake a local option activities which include water and sewer improvements in several areas of Town outside the East Sandy Street target area The total amount of the application will be approximately $750,000.00. BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT W THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM A major objective of the program is the development of viable com munities by providing decent housing, economic opportunities, and a suitable living environment principally for persons of low and moderate incomes. In order to achieve this objective the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Community Devel opment makes available 100 per cent grants to small communities on a competitive basis. PROCEDURES BEING i FOLLOWED IN THE w DEVELOPMENT OF THE APPLICATION A first public hearing to discuss the contents of the application was held on March 8, 1983. The application will be sub mitted to the North Carolina De partment of Natural Resources and Community Development on or before May 2. 1983. Additional program information is available from Mayor H.
