Mrs. Warren Sloan of Chinquapin and Mrs. Tammie Smith of Pink Hill, Kevin Jarman was at Camp Lejeune hospital Tuesday to get a cast on his leg after playing basketball at the Beulaville gymn. Mrs. Kenneth Jarman and Kevin visited Mrs. Yvonne Jarrette in Craven Hospital in New Bern Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Jarmon, Mrs. Tiny Yeatts and Tonya were in Jackson ville at the high school to hear the Maready Family Singers. Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Ma ready visited Yvonne Jarrett at the hospital in New Bern Wednesday. Mrs. Elwood Maready of Beulaville attended the Hippocratic Oath ceremony of her nephew Dannv F. Andrews at Duke Chapel in Durham May 7th. Mrs. William F. Andrews of Mount Olive visited Mrs. Elwood Maready Monday. Clinton Campbell and his son. James Emory Campbell of Greensboro, spent part of the past weekend at Clin ton's cottage on White Oak River near Swansboro. Dianne S. Griffin and children of Jacksonville visited Mrs. Oza Sumner Saturday. Mrs. Macon Brown, Mrs. Morris Grady, Mrs. W.L. Miller and Adell Mathews made a business trip to Kinston Saturday. Lisa Hinson visited Leslie Susan Herring at Scott's Store Saturday and spent the day at Topsail Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Ed wards visited Mr. and Mrs. Gene Swinson and family near Jacksonville Sunday. Mike Thomas, student, was home with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Rollin J. Thomas and brother for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ken nedy and children of Fay etteville spent the weekend with their parents. Rev. and Mrs. Ralph Kennedy and Mrs. O.C. Thomas. They attended the annual Gresham family reunion at the Lodge Hail building. Mr. and Mrs. Daylon Whittey of Hampton, Va. spent the weekend with the Thomas family. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Brinson of Virginia were here for the weekend with her relatives in Warsaw and his relatives, the late Clyde Brinson family. Rev. and Mrs. Garland Foushee left Monday to at tend the pastors and wives school this week at Campbell University in Buies Creek. Lois Craft of Princeton spent the weekend with her mother. Mrs. Led Williams. Mrs. Paul Bolin Sr. was in Chapel Hill during the week end for the graduation of her son, Robert Mercer, at UNC on Sunday. Scott Smith is a patient in the Greenville rehabilitation center. He was hospitalized after being involved in a car accident three months ago. Ervin Lanier expects to be released from Pitt Memorial Hospital this week. Graduates from Duke .?Panny F Andrews, son of William F. Andrews and Marie Bishop Andrews of Route 2, Mount Olive, was recently graduated from Duke University School of Medicine. Danny is a 1975 graduate of East Duplin High School. A 1979 graduate, magna cum laude, of Duke, he received a bachelor of science degree in zoology as well as fullfilled the require ments for a bachelor or arts in economics. He will be entering hts residency in internal medicine at North western University Medical Center in Chicago, 111. in June. At the present time, his plans include a probably fellowship and specialization in cardiology. Danny's maternal grand parents are Mrs. Julia Rhoses Bishop of Mount Olive and the late Herman Bishop. His paternal grand-, parents are Mrs. Corena Stilly Andrews of Route 2, Trenton, and the late Walter Andrews. Bible Course Class Rudene Kennedy will teach a one-night continua tion course of Jesus' prayer in the 11th Chapter of the book of John on Thursday night. May 26 at 8 p.m. in the Sandy Plain Free Will Baptist Church. Miss Kennedy began this study class a few days ago and will continue with a on-night study course. The public is invited to join the class. Gresham Family Reunion The Frank and Mary Susan Gresham family reunion was held at the Masonic Lodge in Beulaville May 15. It was planned by the children and grandchildren of the late Barbara Gresham Thomas. According to a count, ap proximately 80-90 attended this year. Out-of-towners present in cluded: Mr. and Mrs. Daylor Whittey of Hampton, Va.; Horace and Lois Brinson of Hampton. Va.; Larry and Glenda Kennedy and chil dren of Fayetteville; Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Bostic of War saw; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ezzell and family of South port. The reunion next year will be in charge of the children and grandchildren of the late Maggie Gresham Hines. A Winning Team: Rice And Strawberries RICE N STRAWBERRY PUDDING 2 pints fresh strawberries, washed and stemmed 3/4 cup sugar 1 lime 3/4 cup uncooked rice X teaspoon salt 1 quart milk , 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 tablespoons rum or X teaspoon rum extract, optional 1 cup heavy cream, whipped Slice strawberries, reserv ing 8 for garnish. Sprinkle sliced strawberries with X/4 cup sugar and juice from lime!" Set aside. In heavy saucepan, with tight-fitting lid, bring rice, salt, milk, and remaining sugar to a boil. Stir once or twice, ' reduce heat, cover, and sim mer 25 to 30 minutes, stir ring occasionally, until rice is tender and milk is almost absorbed. Add vanilla and rum. Cool to room tempera ture. Fold in sliced straw berries and whipped cream, reserving 1/2 cup for gar nish. Spoon pudding into serving dishes. Top each with a dollop of whipped cream and a strawberry. Makes 8 servings.
