VINCENT ENTERTAINS Mrs. Frank Vincent of Swan nanoa was hostess to a dessert bridge last Tuesday afternoon for the benefit of St. Margaret- Mary's church. Mrs. O. E. Leeman held high score, Mrs. B. Gordon Bryon, low, and Mrs. William Berner won the bingo prize. Those present were: Mrs. M. J. Baer, Mrs. Pat Randolph, Mrs. Chet Sobol, Mrs. Joe Mackney, Mrs. Charles Brabee, Mrs. Richard Oulahan, Mrs. Leeman and Mrs. Byron, all of Black Mountain, Mrs. A1 Bass, Mrs. Fred Newton,, and Mrs. Berner of Swannanoa. CHURCH GROUP MEET WITH MRS. CAI.LISON Circle No. 1 of the Presbyterian church met Tuesday. October 5, at the home of Mrs. A. G. Callison, with Mrs. Charles Dougherty and Mrs. Walter Burgess Jr., as co hostesses. Mrs. S. M. Bittinger, circle chairman, presided. Mrs. A. F. Tyson, Jr., was in charge of the program for the afternoon. Those present were: Mrs. C. D. Miller, Mrs. R. H. Howerton. Miss Sarah Kirby, Mrs. Neal Grissom. Miss Minnie Mcßride, Mrs. Clifford Porter, Miss Bell O’Neil, and Miss Myrtle Johnston. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostesses. WOMAN’S CLUB MEETS THURSDAY AT HILLTOP The Black Mountain Woman’s club will meet Thursday, October 14, at the home of Mrs. F. H. Richardson at 3:30 p. m. All teachers of the schools of Black Mountain and Montreat are to be honor guests. Activities of the club this year will stress youth conservation. MR. AND MRS. KERLEE ENTERTAIN CLUB M. and Mrs. H. A. Kerlee en tertained their bridge club last Tuesday evening with a covered dish supper at their homo "Over Yonder.” Douglas Jones held high for the men and Mrs. Jones, high for the women. Those enjoying the evening were: Mr. and Mrs. Lee Seagle, Mr. and Mrs. D. 0. Mc- Dougle, Mrs. D. P. Dinwiddie, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Jones. HONORED AT CHILI SUPPER Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mackney, who are leaving soon to make their home in Wilmington, Del., were honored with a chili supper last Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chet Sobol. Others present were Mr. and Mrs. George Dougherty and Mrs. Pat Randolph. RETTYE ANNE CRUMP FETED ON FOURTH BIRTHDAY Mrs. T. P. Crump entertained recently in honor of the fourth birthday of her daughter Bettye Anne, at her home on Montreat road. After playing games the following guests enjoyed birthday cake, ice cream, and grape juice. Tommy and Woody Sobol, Charles and Howard Lewis, Judith Ann and Dennis Boring, Barbara Jeanne Crump, the honoree, Mrs. Chet Sobol, Mrs. Grace Lewis, and Mrs. John Boring. LANGDALES ENTERTAIN WITH DINNER Mr. and Mrs. N. N. Langdale, who have recently built a home in Lakewood, entertained Tuesday night with a dinner at their home. Guests wore Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Holcombe. Alan Holcombe. Mrs. Edna Wall, and Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Wall of Asheville. NEW COMER Miss Emma Soutbworth of Troy, N.
