Pmgt 1*-A—THE BRUNSWICK BEACON, Thurtday, May Zl, 1987 Leland Man Convicted On Gambling, ABC Violations A Leland man was convicted May IS in Bninswick County District Criminal Court on several charges relating to his operation of a nightspot, the Club Valentino, in Leland. Hardy Ballard, S9, of Route 1, Leland, pleaded guilty and was found guilty of one count each of allowing gambling, possession of spiritous li quor where unauthorized and posses sion of spiritous liquor without a per mit Judge D. Jade Hooks Jr. sentenced Ballard to two years on the Brunswide County Jail/State Depart ment of Corrections, suspended two years with two years of supervised probation, and fined him $1,000 and costs. He is not to possess liquor or alcoholic beverages where pro hibited, not to allow persons to sell li quor in any establishment operated by him that does not have the ap propriate permits, and is not to allow gambling.
