'81 TO SEPT. '87 VERY FAMILIAR WITH LOCAL CONCERNS ser\’c the northern region actually began 12 years ago and intensified when the Inland Sanitary District was established in 1977. Williamson said the initial plans of the district's boani called for the use of existing groundwater supplies and its own water treatment plant. He explained, however, that when the county water plant was con structed and lines were run just a few hundred yards outside the district, the board decided to focus on connec ting to the county water system. Williamson added, "This is really something which should have been done ten years ago. But the impor tant thing is that these people are finally going to get the water." it AM PHOTO Bt iUVAtl UiMEff CLATTTON GRAHAM cuts tubing Friday as installa tion of water lines for the Leland Sanitanr* District con tinues. "It’s not like they’re going to take the money and run,” he said. Williamson said the contractor cur rently has three crews at the site and may bring in one or two more to speed up completion. He added that the main lines throughout the district should be completed in six or seven months and that the entire project sliould be com pleted in nine montlis. Currently, residents within the district are using wells to meet their water needs. Williamson said con nection to the system is entirelv voluntary and that approximately vu percent of the home owners have re quested hookup. Williamson said the board has received "very few complaints con sidering the nature of the construc tion."
