October 22, 1987—Page 9-A Man Injured When Car Hits House In Ash An Ash man escaped serious injury Friday night when the auto in which he was a passenger struck a house near Ash, according to N.C. Highway Patrol spokesperson Ruby Oakley. The accident occurred Friday at 10:30 p.m. on S.R. 1332 (Stout Road). 9.1 miles west of Shallotte. Ms. Oakley said a 1979 Ford, registered to Ellis Cleatus Gore, was traveling north when it ran through a stop sign at the intersection of Stout Road and Mill Branch Road. The car crossed a yard and struck the house, owned by Ruby Robinson of Ash. Damage to the house was estimated at SJ.OOO, Ms. Oakley said. The vehicle sustained an e.stimated $2,000 damage in the wreck. According to Ms. Oakley, (lore—the car’s owner- was listed as a passenger. No other injuries were refwrted in connection with the accident. Trooper D.B. Har\'cII investigated the accident. According to his report, he did not locate the driver of the car. Charges, which would include a slop sign violation, are pending. (lore suffered non-incapaciting in- jurie.s. Another motorist was injured in one other single-car wreck Friday night. Ms. Oakley said Faison l^jine Howard Jr., .16. of Richlands. was hurt when the 1982 Plymouth he was driving ran oil Jiunset Harbor Road ami struck u ditch bank. Howard left the .scene of the 7:20 p.m. Friday wreck, which occurred 13.4 miles south of Bolivia, .she s;nd Trooper B.C. Jones located Howard and charged him with failing to report an accident, she said. Ms. Oakley said Howard’s injuries were listed as incapacitating. However. Jones’ report did not specify whether or not the motorist received medical treatment, and if so, where. Damage to the car was estimated at $4,000. Two Dogs, Cat Are 'Pets Of The Week' A female mixed chow, a male mix ed breed dog and a male short-haired cat arc recommended for adoption as “pets of the week” at the Brunswick County Animal Shelter. Animal Control Supervisor Zclma Babson said the light-reddish chow is about eight months old. while the small, white mixed breed is about two years old. The cat, which is about two years old, is large and black. These animals and others can be seen Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the shelter, located off N.C. 211 south of Supply.
