WEST BRUNSWICK HIGH PRESENTS AWARDS Elisa Herndon Receives First Russ Scholarship West Brunswick High School se nior Elisa Hemdon, salutatorian of her class, was the first recipient last week of a new scholarship estab lished in memory of a longtime Brunswick County educator. It was among numerous scholar ship awards announced or presented during West Brunswick High School's annual Awards Day last Wednesday morning. Bailey Russ of Shallotte helped present the Edna Russ Scholarship, which was established by the Student Government Association (SGA) in his wife's memory. Mrs. Russ taught in the Brunswick County Schools for 53 years. Approximately two years af ter she had officially retired, she re turned to work, teaching remedial math at West Brunswick High School. Miss Hemdon had earned A's in all her math courses. Also new this year are the South Brunswick Isles Civitan Scholar ships named in honor of Dr. Kendall Suh.
