We Fill Any Doctor's Prescription Phone 1300 231 Battleground Ave. Couple Is Honored At Rehearsal Party Mr. and Mrs. Richard Newton entertained Saturday evening at the home of Mrs. Newton’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Houser, in Cherryville at an after-hears al party for Miss Mary Rachel Plonk and Timothy Gerald Glad den. The cakecutting was held fol lowing the couple’s wedding re hearsal in St. Matthew's Luth eran Church hero. Mrs. Newton and Miss Plonk were roommates at Lenoir Rhyne College at Hickory A color note of yellow and green was observed in the decorations. The refr e s h m e n t table, overlaid with a white linen cloth, held a two-tier white, green and yellow wedding cake topped by the traditional bride and groom figurines. Other flower arrangements with yellow and green predominating were used jin decorations throughout the house. Miss Nancy Plonk, the bride elect’s sister, cut and served the cake, and Mrs. Ernest Stroupe, of Cherryville, served punch. Miss Plonk wore a figured cot ton dress with a corsage of pink carnations, gift of the hosts. Guests included the wedding party, members of the two fami lies. and invited guests. Mrs. Shuford Hostess To Duplicate Club Duplicate Bridge club members met Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Tolly Shuford. Bridge prizes went to Mrs. Ja cob Cooper, Mrs. VV. K. Maunfey, Jr., and Mrs. W. L. Mauney, who tied for high score award. Only club members attended. Mrs. Shuford sbrved a salad course during progressions. TIMOTHY GERALD GLADDEN Miss Mary Rachel Plonk Wed Sunday To Timothy Gladden In Church Rites Miss Mary Rachel Plonk bte came the bride of Timothy Ger ald Gladden Sunday afternoon at half after four o’clock in a can dlelight wedding ceremony in Saint Matthew’s Lutheran church. Dr. W. P. Gerberding, minister of the church, read the impressive ritual for the couple. White gladioli, white asters, and palms interspersed by cathe dral tapers in wrought-iron cande labras provided background deco ration. Gordon Beaver, organist, and Miss Frances Motsinger, of High Point, college classmate of the bride, vocalist, presented a pro gram of traditional wedding mu sic. Organ program included "Air for G String” by Bach, “Arioso” by Bach, “Meditation” by Gret chininoff, “Panis Angblicus” by Franck, “Traumerei” by Schu mann, “Andante” from "Violin Concerto” by Mendelssohn, and “My Heart Ever Faithful” by Bach. The “Bridal Chorus” from Lohengrin by Wagner was played for processional music, and Men delssohn’s wedding march from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” was used for recessional music. Miss Motsinger sang, “Entreat Me Not to Leave Thee” by Gou nod, “O Perfect Love” by Bamby, and “Wedding Benediction” by Lovelace. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white Chantilly lacfe and tulle over bri dal satin. The dress featured a fitted bodicfe styled with portrait neckline and long, fitted sleeves that ended in points at the hands. The bouffant skirt of lace and tulle was outlined in sbed pearl medallions and extended into a cathedral-length train. Her fin gertip veil of silk bridal illusion was attached to a lace cap trim med with seed pearls and irides cent sequins, and she carried a bouquet of white roses and tube roses from which extended satin streamers. Miss Nancy Plonk was her sis ter’s maid of honor, and brides maids included Miss Martha Plonk, sister of the bride, Miss Joyce Gladden, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Richard New. ton, of Cherryville, college room mate nf thio hriHa ■mpnm, uiiuu s muuiw, wore a dress of aqua chantilly lace over taffeta. She wore a j matching hat and accessories in : white and a shoulder corsage i of white rosebuds. The groom’s j mother, Mrs. Gladden, was dress-! ed in light blue shadow lace and wore a matching hat and white! accessories. Her corsage was of white rosebuds. The bride’s parents enterainted at a reception following the wed ding in the church social hall, where a color note of yellow and green was observed in the dco rations and in table appointments Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mauney and Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Patterson directed guests to the reception hall where Mr. and Mrs. L. Ar nold Kiser introduced the receiv ing line which included the cou ple, their parents, and the wed ding party. Mrs. Stokes Wright and Mrs. Billy Spake, the latter of Shelby, j served punch, and refreshments were served by Miss Louise Glad den, Miss Betty Kiser, Miss Jua nita Lackey, Mrs. William Law. rfence Plonk, Mrs. Ben Hudson, and Mrs. Gene Austin, all of Kings Mountain. Mr. and Mrs, Martin Harmon presided at the register, and good byes were said to Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Gantt. A cloth of imported white Irish linen covered the refreshment' table which held an arrangement of lilies, white gladioli, snapdra gons, feverfew, Golden Master piece roses, yellow Eclipse roses, and Belles-of-Ireland in a silver container flanked against white tapers in a five-branched cande abra. The Fostoria punch bowl was decorated with clematis and yellow Eclipse rosebuds. Other seasonal arrangements with yel low and green predominating were used for decoration. Mrs. Gladden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Lawrence Plonk] received her education from Kings Mountain high school and Lenoir-Rhyne college, where she was a mfember of the Philias so rority. She will be a member of the faculty at Villas Heights school in Charlotte in September. Mr. Gladden, son of Mr. and Mrs. John William Gladden, Sr., of Kings Mountain, was graduat ed from Kings Mountain high school and served three years in the U. S. Army, one of which was spent in Germany. He will be a student at King’s Business col lege in Charlotte in the fall. For a trip through the moun tains of Western North Carolina, Mrs. Gladden wore a sheath dress of black broadcloth accented by a white collar. She carried a black, gray-andwhite-striped dus ter and wore black and white ac cessories. Her rosebud corsage was lifted frofh her bridal bou quet. ' The couple will reside in Char lotte. Miss Anne Dilling Gives Wedding Plans Miss Annie Mobley Dilling, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Char les Dilling, has completed plans for her wedding to Richard Kirby McMackin, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Lindsey McMackin, of Clover, S. C., and announces them this week. The wedding will take place Saturday August 18th, at five o’clock in the afternoon in Cen tral Methodist church. MRS. WILLIAM LEE SANDERS Miss Linda Sue Rhea Married Friday To William L. Sanders In Gaffney, S. C. Miss Linda Sue Rhea and Wil liam Lee Sanders, both of Kings Mountain exchanged marriage vows last Friday evening at sev en o’clock in Gaffney, S. C. Mrs. W. R. Douglas heard the couple pledge vows of the im pressive double-ring certemooy. The bride wore a sheath dress of white lace over blue taffeta. Her accessories were white, and she carried carnations on a white prayerbook from which extended satin streamers. Miss Doris Sellers, Miss Sonya Goforth, Gerald Lovelace, all of Kings Mountain, Kenneth Cion, inger and Don Edwards, both of Sumter, S. C., air base accompa nied the couple. Mrs. Sanders daughter of Mrs. Grady A. Rhea, Sr. and the late Mr. Rhea, is a 1956 graduate of Kings Mountain high school. Mr. Sanders, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Sanders, was graduated in 1956 from Kings Mountain high school and expects to enter the navy in September. Mr. and Mrs. Sanders have re turned from a trip to Myrtle Beach, S, C. and are residing temporarily with the bride’s mother. Mrs. O. T.
