In addition, 37 persons were ejected for health reasons, 41 .were first-time donors and 47 were listed as replacements for specific recipients. McMurry of Shelby has been appointed to the 18-member advisory committee of the American Red Cross’ Southeastern Region. He will serve three years. The committee serves as a medium of contact between the national Red Cross organization and the local chapters. It also evaluates services and programs Dr. McMurry is a director of the Cleveland County Chapter. He is a past chapter chairman and blood , program chairman and also has served as chairman of the Piedmont Carolinas Re gional Blood Program. He has represented the Cleveland Coun ty chapter as a delegate to four national conventions. Announcement of Dr. McMur- ry’s appointment was made at a Wednesday Hotel Charles meet ing of chapter directors. Chapter committee chairman also were announced. Dr. George Hyatt Jr. says that Wade Hendricks, director of farm and public relations for North west Bank, Statesville, will serve as state Farm-City Week chair man. Jan Christensen, home economists editor for the Agri cultural Extension Service, Ra leigh, will service as vice chair- »nan in charge of women’s acti vities. Matthews reported' on chapter disaster services offered at a re cent train accident in Cherryville. Mrs. R. M. Hauss, executive se cretary, presented a survey report on the chapter’s blood program Hyatt is chairman of the North Carolina Council on Community and Area DDevelopment, which Jponsors Farm-City Week in the state, as well as director of the Agricultural Extension Service at N.
