Tliat's the aim of a mammoth beautification project underway at the Phifer road site, say mem bers of the project’s steering committee who admit the work fever is contagious among Kings Mountain high school studtmts who are developing "old Flat Rock" beside the stadium area into a recreation and beauty spot. Charles Knight, faculty mem ber and a well known artist in the field of landscape architec ture and ornamental horticulture, is spearheading the project. Var ious clubs and organizations of the high school are able to select an area they wish to develop and already 700 rooted shrubs have been planted, the land has been clcart'd and unwanted trees and underbrush have bec-n removed. Through the years, a constant flow of water has sculptured a four to six inch crevice in the main loi-k, making a water fall into what is a propo.sed natural lake. BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT AT FLAT ROCK—Kings Mountain high school agnciiltwe stu dents, under the direction of theii' three faculty advisors, have begun a project to beautify and develop the Flat Rock area from the road leading to John Gamble Memorial Stadium, Phifer road, to a beauty and recreation spot.
