The public Is Invited to the show, sponsored by the Shelby Art League. Art teachers from each at the eight schools were Invited to each select IB entries for the exhibition. 'Thirty pieces of art by lOngs Mountain area stu dents are Included In the show, representing artistic talents of Junior High and or High artists. Local art Instructors are re. Diane Harper at KMSHS and Eugene McLain at KMJH. n^ere la no admission charge. -oOo- PIHTHDAY PARTY Today marks the BKh birthday at the American UB STEWART Legion in North Carolina and Kings Mountain Post IBB will be honored at a buffet supper at 8 p. m. to be hosted by members of Chit IBS at the American Legion Building. Arlene (Mrs. J. D.) Bar rett Is chairman of the event and co-hostesses are Mrs. Daisy McCurry and Mrs. Mallle Parker. Members of the Auxi liary will gather at 7:80 p. m. for a budness meeting In the Conference Room while the general meeting of Post IBB Is underway In the ballroom with Com mander Bob Smith pre siding. At 8 p. m. the two groups will gather for aiqpper and serving of the blue and gold annlvenary cake. -oOo- IT'8 A BOY Mr. and Mrs. Billy A. Wilson of Oastonla, for merly of Kings Mountain, announce the arrival of their first child, a son, Billy Anthony Wilson, Jr., Feb. 38th, Cleveland Memorial Hospital, Shelby. The baby weighed six pounds, 10 ounces and Is grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Welch and Mr. and Mrs. Loran Wilson, all of Kings Mountain. Oreat-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Beimett and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Welch, aU of Kings Mountain. The baby’s mother la the farmer Linda Welch. -oOo- Mauneys Celebrate 25th Anniversary Dr. and Mrs. William Lawrence Mauney were honored on their Silver Wedding Anniversary Feb. 3Bth at a reception hosted by their children at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Ekitertalnlng together were Captain William Lawrence Mauney, Jr. of Minot, North IXikota, Dr. and Mrs. C. Jeff Mauney of Shelby and Miss Jennie Cray Mauney of Salem College, Winston-Salem. More than 300 friends and relatives called during reception hours of 4 and 7 p. m. A spring color theme, with pinks and blues _ 'predominating t* beautifully featui'ed™^ throughout the Fellowship Hall. The refreshment table was covered with a floor-length white lace cloth and held a silver candelabrum set' with tapers with epergnettes of snaps. Jonquils, camellias and Dutch Iris In pinks, blues, white and yellow. Nosegays of pink Per fection camellias garlanded the table. A sUver punch bo>»d was at one end of the table and silver appointments held brocoUl In pastry shells, fancy sandwiches, ham biscuits, chicken drum- mettes and cheese biscuits. Mrs. Robert Wilson served hot broccoli from a silver bowl at one end of the table, and Miss Christine Still served pink punch. The three-tier pedestal pink and white an niversary cake was cen terpiece for a round table, overlaid with a floor-length lace cloth. Tbpplng the cake were fresh roses and snapdragons. Pink Per fection camellias outlined the cake, which Mrs. Oeorge Houser out and served to guests. Dr. and Mrs. Jeff Mauney greeted arriving callers and Mr. and Mrs. Knox Wlnget of Oastonla, brother and sister-in-law of Mn. W. Ia Mauney, were at the register. The honored couple received with Captain Lawrence Mauney, Miss Jennie Oray ■ Mauney, and their pastor and his wife. Dr. and Mrs. Glenn Clonlnger. Assisting In serving were Mrs. Oeorge Plonk, Mrs. Garland Still of Oastonla, and Miss Leigh Anne Wilson. Guests Included five members of LJbby Wlnget and Dr. W. L. Mrs. Mauney, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Wlnget of Albemarle, Is a former Kings Mountain teacher who now serves as librarian at Bethware School. Dr. Mauney, Cleveland County podiatrist. Is son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. Lawrence Mauney of Kings Mountain, prominent Kln^ Mountain dtisens tor many years. Out-of-town guests were from Albemarle, Oastonla and Charlotte. The Dirthctey People Jodi Renee Stewart Celebrates First Birthday Jodi Renee Stewart, daughter at Mr. and Mrs. Tony Stewart of the Dixon Community, celebrated her first birthday Mon., Feb. 3Tth. A family birthday party was held at the Stewart home and Jodi’s ’’Scooby Doo” birthday cake was served with party re freshments. Other members of the Stewart family Include Jodi’s borther, Kelly, age u, and sister, Casrte, age eight. Jodi Is granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Blackburn at Shslby and Mr. and Mra Bud Stewart of the Dixon community. She Is great-granddaugh ter of H. K. Stewart at the JODI R. STEWART sue.
