projects for the fire department
include a chief’s auto, a pickup
truck, a front wheel drive truck,
and a skid unit.
The street department plans
$150,000 worth of paving, curb
and guttering. The city also
plans to spend $25,000 for a
motorgrader on a lease-purchase
agreement and $3,200 for a
bushhog.
The sanitation department
plans to purchase two trash col-
lection vehicles and containers.
The $2,000 budgeted to the
garage will go toward the pur-
chase of tools. The Recreation
Department plans to spend half
of its $15,000 on equipment and
the other half on facility im-
provements, the Neighborhood
Facilities Center has targeted all

for bids for materials for a water
line on East Gold Street.

for bids for two new pumps to
upgrade and relocate the pump
station at Testa Chevrolet on
York Road.

for bids for one 1,250 gallon
pumper fire truck.

for bids for one tractor for curb
and sidewalk machine.

pipe and catch basins for surface
drains in the Catherine Street

Gardner-Webb College has again
recorded an all-time high enroll-
ment of summer school students.
The major contributing factor
ro this increase is the college’s
Greater Opportunity for Adult
Learners(GOAL) program and
growth of the Graduate Pro-
gram.
Figures for the first session of
summer school indicate that
GOAL students make up over
half the overall student enroll-
ment. 550 students are enrolled
atr Gardner-Webb this summer.

GOAL program. Summer
school graduate students grew
from 31 in 1982 to 68 this sum-
