Since basic training is fundamentaily an introduction to Army life, the recruits’ first week is taken up with interviews, tests, fittings tor uniforms, and adjust ments to a new routine of living. The recruits undergo an eight- week period of strict military train ing which is comparable to that given male recruits, except that weapons training is eliminated and more emphasis is placed on ad ministrative and supply procedure. At the end of the eight-week period, there is an additional week during which the recruit is proces sed for further training in either a Leadership School, Specialist School, or one of the Array Ser vice Schools.
