KM Woman Raped, Robbed No arrests have been made but Detective Sgt. Paul Barbee said yesterday that an intensive investigation is continuing into the rape-robbery of a Route 4, Kings Mountain woman early Sunday morning. Barbee said the attacker is described as white, blonde, young and about five feet eight inches tall. The elderly woman told Sgt. Barbee that she was awakened in her bedroom by a noise, turned a light on and saw the attacker who knocked out the light. “He told her to be quiet or he’d kill her, that he had a knife,” said Barbee, who added that his in vestigation revealed that a telephone line had been cut with a knife. “He raped her and told her a couple times he was sorry and then went in her pocketbook and took $130 and a bottle of Darvon. The attacker told the woman not to leave the house or call anyone for 10 minutes. When he got out of the house she heard him holler for Joe,” said the officer. The woman told Barbee that she waited about five minutes before running to a neighbor’s house to call the Sheriffs Department about 4 a.m. Barbee said that bloodhounds brought to the scene could not pick up a scent to track the attacker who is believed to have left with another person in a vehicle. Barbee said the victim was taken to Cleveland Memorial Hospital to be examined by a doctor who verified that she had been raped.
