The college is large enough to serve yon, and small enoiigt to know you. A Liberal Arts College, char tered by the State of Delaware and the Middle State Associa tion of Colleges and Secondary Schools, Delaware State Col lege is located in the historic First State, three miles from the state capitol in Dover. No individual desiring an ed ucation and desiring to enter Delaware State should allow the lack of finance to “turn him off” from continuing his education. The cost for a good Liberal Arts education for out of state boarding students is just over one thousand dollars. Financial assistance to help those students who, without this assistance, would be unable to continue their education is available. Work Study-Grants, Educational Opportunity Grants, and National Defense Loans are available to qualify ing students. Also, for financial assistance are special ability scholarships and grants, such as Athletics Work Aid, Music Scholarships, Track “a” De partmental Scholars, and Pres tige Scholarships. Fo: students attending Dela ware State College, the student activities are varied. Students -ire members of practically all College Committees. The Placement Office offers stu dents and graduates assistance in obtaining employment. Through personal interviews md analysis of interests and experiences, the Placement of fice helps to guide students and graduates into occupations. Delaware eral lounge, recreational area, post office, bookstore, canteen, TV room, student government suite, student newspaper office, and honors general meeting rooms, and one thousand person capacity air conditioned “multi-purpose room” which C3n be used as an auditorium. A new men’s dormitory has just been completed and Is oc cupied, Another new women’s dormitory will be completed by spring 1970. To be completed by 1970 is a five million dollar Humanities and Teacher Education Com plex. This building w ill accomo date the school's Teach* r Edu cation program, departments of fine arts, music, languages, literature, philosophy, and drama. The academic program has experimental programs such as educational television and pro grammed instructions. A Com puter Center is becoming a pivotal point in the educa tional development. An ’exten sive program in astronomy is offered. The Chemistry Department of Delaware State College has been cited for being one of the 62 outstanding student affiliate chapters by the Council Com mittee on Chemical Education. A College Writing Lab was initiated this year. The pro gram: is not a substitute for the regular English Courses bait is to aid in resolving a stu dents' writing problems. A three day Writer’s lab Conference is held in the Spring. This conference brings outstanding professional and aspiring writers togethei . The writers discuss their relevance to the struggle for the libera tion of man and tl-ir vision for America and the world.
