A tenor, Howard is singing with a special en semble on our "Sw-anSong Con-" cert,” program, doing Rene dictus from Mass In G, by Schubert. aiMim > vdu.-, OLDEST ASSOCIATION' MEMBER FETED ON BIRTHDAY - Mrs. Lizzie Bess celebrated her 80th birthday anniversary at a surprise party sponsored by the Walnut Terrace Tenants’ Rights and Improvement Associ I'ion on Juiy 14th. Mrs. Bess, the Okie?' member of the or ganization, is one of the most active people in Walnut Terrace. Seldom does she miss a meet ing of the Tenants’ Association or the Walnut Terrace Senior Citizens’ Club. Not only did she have a birthday cake, but also a money tree. Both are shown above. A native of Bishop ville, South Carolina, Mrs. Bess came to Ra leigh some 60 years ago. She is a Deaconess at the Fayetteville Street Baptist Church. She has one son in Last Spencer, and two grand children in Raleigh. Mrs. Bess resides at 1317- Holman Street. S enior C iiizens Center News The Senior Citizens, of the 41G E. Cabarrus Street Center, toured the State Museum build ing and afterwards w'ent tot’m stead Park for a picnic on Wed nesday, July 9. Over 100 people attended this outing, lncludinga trailway busload from Golds boro, and groups from the Little River Community Action Center at Zebulon and White Oak Center at Apex. The buses left the center at 11:00 and returned at 3:l' p.m. Eve ryone t akin gt h e tr ip i eport - ed a good time. On each Thursday night at uOO, there will be a movie shown at the Centei.
