Mrs. Frank Shaw and Mrs. Thomas McCoy, from the Hands chapter, gave the FYC mem bers information on possible locations and the cost of im proving these sites for a Youth Park. Pre Melchoir will pre sent all of her information on a Youth Park to the FYC Board next week. The radio show today at noon will be on “Youth and the Church.” The Rev. Keith Pe eve of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church was the adult guest for today’s program. Woody Myatt, Elizabeth Gam bill, David Free man,' Bobby Lancaster and Shelia Young were the Youth Council members on the panel, David Freeman attended part of the Raleigh Youth Council's Youth Week program last week- • end. Part of the week-end schedule was a movie night, a Be-In, a dance and on Sunday an hour service was held in Meredith College Amphi theater, with youth of all de nominations taking part in the service. Deborah Joel will have the monthly school calendars pub lished next week. These will include information from all four high schools and other events that are of interest to the area youth, This will in form all teenagers of the hap penings of the month. All children who at tend the fair will be 6 to 14 years of age. The total grant request for both trips is: County Fair 6- 55,00, State Fair 637,90, Total $1,292.90, The age span for the par ticipants going to the State Fair will differ. All children attend ing will be age 13 to 17, but there will be participants from all of the geographical areas. All chaperones will be com pensated for food and rides if they desire. Transportation buses will leave from the House of Commons, 401 East Russell Street at 9 a.m. on Friday, October 17, whereas the child ren who attend the county fair will leave the pick-up station in their area at 12 noon on Saturday, October 11, This project was tried last year on a smaller basis, and proved extremely successful in providing low-income child s ren with entertainment, as well as providing a vehicle for the organization of low income families. There is no charge for news. project, CCAP GETS A NEW EM PLOYEE The CCAP Board of Direc tors and the Child Development PAC approved the hiring of Mrs. Nancy Em kin as direc tor of the Child Development Program. Mrs. Emkin is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a major in Psychology. For two years she worked with retarded children at an in stitution in Chicago, The CCAP employees wel come Mrs. Emkin and hope that she will enjoy her em ployment. OTHER STAFF CHANGES Mr. Kenneth G. Smith has been promoted to Director of the Neighborhood Services Component. We hope him much success. Mr, Luther (Nick) Jeralds has left the Neighborhood Y T outh Corps to take a job with the Fayetteville State University in this city. We hope him much success.
