HENDERSON - The people in South Henderson and es pecially at 2123 St. Matthew St. at the residence of Mr. Rob ert Gooch are in much grief and sorrow because of the passing of Mrs. Mattie Gooch, who is the wife of Mr. Cooch. Mrs. Gooch was a native of Gr anville Coun ty and lived most of her seven ty years in that county. She was a member of the Big Zion Methodist Church and was very faithful in performing every du ty required of her by her church' as long as she was able. She will be long remembered by her friends and associates for the love and kindness she always had for others. Surviving are her husband, Mr. Robert Gooch of the home; two daughter s, Mrs. Annie Ruth Jordan of Ox ford and Mrs. Mildred M» Da vis of Render so n; four sons, George C., Robert Lee, Mar vin and Hubert, all of Hender son; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three sis ters, Mrs. Marie Hamlet of Oxford, Mrs. Frances Boyd of New York and Mrs. Luvenia Howell of South Boston. Va. VISITORS The only real visitor to our city reported to this column at this time is Miss Audrey Rich ardson from Brooklyn, N. Y., who is visiting her mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Columbus (Virginia) Richardson, 483 Powell St, Mr. joe Burt’s son, Jake, is at home to see his sick father, who is confined at the Maria Parham Hospital. The length of his Stay depends cxi the con dition of his father. ST. ANDREWS UNITED NCQJ Will Host Statewide Rescurce-Use Convention DURHAM - North Carolina Central University will be the scene of the 23rd annual meet ing of The- North Carolina Re source-Use Education Confer ence on November 13, at Dur ham. The one-day conference will feature two major address es, a Student Symposium, and fourteen Conservation -Envi ronmental Education Work shops. In making the announcement recently, Dr, Theodore R„ Speigner, NCCU Director of the Division of Resource-Use Edu cation and .State Chairman of the Conference said; <(S The 1969 general theme for the Twenty- Third annual meeting is 'En vironmental Education Can Make The Difference.” He said, M mosi ■ environmen tal-minded people are already convinced that waste and deple tion of natural and human re sources constitute serious threats to the well-being of our country.” Dr. Speigner pointed out that ‘*the content of environmental education is the total physical environ ment of man - its social, eco nomic, and esthetic, as well as its biological aspects.” He believes that exploration of en vironmental education In -depth by administrators, teachers, parents and students, *%ili pro mote the highest quality of learning and living for all citi zens.” The keynote address for the morning session will be delivered by the Honorable Ben jamin Brown, Representative to the Georgia House of Repre sentatives, Atlanta, Georgia. ** * * * Storage of U.
