FUQUAY-VAREMA FUQUAY-VARINA - Sunday School was held at all local churches with the superintend ents in charge of the devotion. First Baptist Church opened Sunday School at 10 a.m. with the supt., Mr. Alford Thorpe, in charge ; The subject of the les son was ,f Why Israel Divided.*- The lesson was taken from I Kings. Morning worship serv ices were held at First Bap tist Church at 11:15, where th€ Rev. N. A. Trice is pastor. He also delivered the message. He chose his text from I John 1:23. Rev. Trice delivered a very spiritual message. Music was rendered by the Gospel Chorus, accompanied at the piano by Mr. Charlie Prince. Sunday at 3 p.m., the senior Ebony Rustic Society celebrated its third anniversary. The Gos pel Chorus rendered music a long with others, A reception followed the program. The hos pitality shown was very warm and friendly. The Gospel Cho rus of St. Augusta and Baz sel Creek Chorus also rend ered music on this anniver sary. Jones delivered a very heart-touching message, His text was taken from the Book of Daniel, chapter 3*16-1 ? verses. He used as a theme “A Christian Under Pressure.*’ Mrs. Cora Lassiter accompan ied the senior choir, which rendered music for the serv ice. The Daughters of Zion and others appeared on a program at First Baptist Church in Apex to sauce, candied yams, steam ed cabbage, jello, wipped top ping, corn bread, milk. Friday - turkey salad on let tuce, peas and carrots, apple cobbler, and milk. Monday - hot dog on bun, chil i sauce, mustard, onions tur nip greens, buttered potatoes, Tuesday- peanut butter and jelly sandwich, vegetable meat soup, peach cobbler, crackers and milk. He chose his text from St. Mat thew 5:16 and used as a sub ject “Let Your Light Shine.** Some excerpts from the mes sage are: Bidden lights which serve no purpose when covered, sometimes the lights in our lives are covered with jealousy, malice and hatred which puts out our light. Hidden religion: There are some who want to hide their religion for they have back-slidden. Their lights went out soon after they cove red them up. The lamp of the wicked shall be put out. Let your light at 6 p.m. A fine time was en joyed by all. We welcome any visitors into our town. Mrs. Flora Hawkins and family have returned home from Philadelphia, Pa. Wel come home’ We wish Mrs. Coretta Mer ritt a pleasant stay while she is visiting in Scarsdale, N. Y. Let’s remember our sick and shut-in. Pray for them and pay them a visit. Cutts, a graduate of the School of the Arts in Winston-Salem in 1969 is now doing further study in music at the Manhattan School of Music in New York, Miss Cutts is a graduate of Sfiaw town High School, Lillington, and is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Rudolph Cults, Sick and shut-in is Mrs. Annie Jane Talton, a former resident of Angier, who now r re sides in Fayetteville, is recup erating at home nicely after a stay inN.
