FUQUAY-V ARENA FUQUAY - VARINA - Sunday School was held at all local churches with the superintend ents presiding. First Baptist Church opened Sunday School at 10 a.m. with the sept., Mr. Alford Thorpe, presiding. The subject of the lesson was, **Going Rack To God’s Way,*’ from E Kings 8 18:1-0. Morning worship services were held at St. Augusta Church with the pastor, Rev. J. M. Jack son, presiding. He chose for his text St. Matthew’s gospel 15:16 and entitled his sermon “This I Believe/’ Music was rendered by the Gospel Chorus. Morning worship services were held at Rogers Chapel AME Zion Church at 11:30, The pastor is Rev. James Bowden. He is still ill and Rev, H. P. Rogers delivered the message. Immediately following the morning service, dinner was served Worship services were also held at Douglas Chapel AME Zion Church where the pastor, Rev Frank L, Rush, presided. The morning message was de livered by pastor Rush, and was quite inspiring. Music was rendered by the intermediate choir. Buses went from our com munity to the fair each evening. We are sure everyone en loved the occasion We are always glad to see old and new laces. Visiting us are Mr. Charlie Burt of Dur ham and Mrs. Glcssie Jor dan of Baltimore, Md, We are all happy to see Jimmy Earl McClain, who has returned home from Vietnam. Mrs. Hattie Lemons was summoned to South Carolina due to the illness of her son. We wish him a speedy recov ery and her a safe return trip. Happy birthdays are in order for the following people: Mr. Olie Kimble, Myra Womble, and Dwight Cotton. Incidental ly, the three of them celebrated birthdays on October 25. POLLY TAYLOR ANGIER - Homecoming was observed, along w i th quarterly meeting, at Wili ia m s Chapel AME Zion Church on Sunday morning. Rev. William M. Freeman is the pastor. The service was well-attended as Rev E, H. Beebe, presiding ei der of the Raleigh District, de livered a very inspring and soul-stirring message. He chose his text from the 23rd Psalm, the §fch verse. “Thou Anointest My Head With Oil; My Cup Runneth Over," was his title. Some excerpts from the sermon was: with life, If you expect to live it, you must also expect some bruises and hurts. Regardless of the trials and tribulations in life, when you are down and out, when you find it hard to forgive, you can always resort to God as your Shepherd, who understands the hurts of His children, He will anoint you. The speaker referred to Bible characters, David, Job, John the Baptist, Saul of Tarsus and the Twelve Disciples who chose the Lord as their Shepherd, and He a nointed their heads with oil. Out-of-town visitors at the service were Mrs. Odessa Bee be, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beebe and Mr. Uriah Beebe of Fayetteville, Mrs. Ruth Tuck er and daughter, Joyce of Rox» boro. The receipts were $367.05. Boy Scout Troop No. 125 is asked to meet at Cutts Chapel Church on Saturday, November 1 at 2 p.m. Black River Grove Church will observe the pastor’s an niversary on Sunday, November 9. Rev. T, E.
