Irish-Israeli Artist To Exhibit in Charlotte Page 11—THE NEWS—April 1981 In two years of operating a gallery in Charlotte a number of people have approached me about artist friends and family. Lina (Mrs. Herman) Levine came to me with the art work of her son-in-law, Brian Lalor. It is special! Lalor’s work has the distinc tion of contemporary lines with the tradition of his surrounding countryside. Lalor, an archeologist, conveys the landscapes of Israel and Ire land with an understanding that reflects his profession. The drawings of Cork and Jerusalem display outstanding architectural features of those regions. While the viewer becomes involved with the buildings and houses in Brian’s work, there is also a sensitivity toward the people that inhabit these spaces which shines through. Brian I^lor has worked as an architect in London and in Tel Aviv. He was the Chief Archeological Architect of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem in 1969. He was Deputy Director of Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C. Excavation at Tell Jemmeh, Negev £)esert, 1976-7. He was also with the French Institute of Scientific Research excavations in Cyprus, 1975. Brian Lalor has done drawings and illustrations for “The Jerusalem Guide,” Marcus Publications, 1973, London and for “Cork,” Gallery Press, Dublin, 1977. He has had many one-man exhibitions including galleries in Cork, London, Munich and Jerusalem. He will have an exhibit in Dublin in September when his new publication of drawings of Dublin will be released. . lliis exhibition of new water- colors, drawings, and prints will open on April 26th and remain through May 15th, at the Robert Havens Galleries. Robert Havens Galleries is located at 2902 Selwyn Avenue, Charlotte. ITie gallery is open Monday through Friday, 10 to 6 and on Saturdays, 10 to 5. — Robert Havens Charlotte Community Concert Association 1981-82 Season The Cleveland Orchestra, one of the top five in the United States and one of the best in the world, will headline the Charlotte Community Concerts 1981-1982 season.
