** '41- Page 14-THE NEWS-Febniary 1989 In.and Around the JCC Winter Camp Was a Great Experience Crammed with a Variety of Activities % JCC Health Fair to be Held When an apple a day is not enough...what is? Find out at the Jewish Community Center’s first comprehensive Health Fair. The Fair is called “L’ Chaim — To Life” and will be held on Sunday, April 9, 1-5 p.m. at Shalom Park. The theme of the program is “Taking Charge Of Your Well-Being Through Aware ness And Education.” The three major components of the Fair are health screen ings, health exhibits and health seminars (18 from which to choose). Choles terol screening, breast ex ams, glaucoma and blood sugar testing are a sample of the health screenings available. We had three special speakers, made foods from other coun tries and h^d a festival day where we learned a little bit about other countries. We visited the Nature Museum and the Energy Explorium. A clown visited us and we even had our own circus! Eric Rol- nick, a young magician, was fantastic as the clown. The children loved him. Other camp activities were partici pating in the pool, the gym, and playing^outside. We had a great time. — Nina Arten exercise equipment, nutri tional supplies and an exhi bit set up by the Red Cross. Coping with Problems of the Aging, Management of Ma jor Risk Factors, Eating Disorders, Smoking, Wom en’s Issues and AIDS are a sample of the health semi nars available. Whether it is a physical, mental, spiritual, cultural or nutritional need you may have, “L’ Chaim - To Life” will have the answers for you. There is no charge for attending the Health Fair. Music Lessons Wo€>dwinds Tim Gorden, a graduate of the NC School of the Arts, is accepting students who want to leam or continue to play woodwind instru ments. In order to be eligible for the summer program, your child must be between 9 months and 24 months on June 1, 1989. For the fall program, your child must be 9 months by September 1, 1989, and not more than 24 months on October 16,1989.
