By Jay Snyder, H&PE Director Hello again everyone! Can you believe we are already into March? Well I guess time really does fly when you are having a great time at the “J." Speaking of having a great time, Chad" Jaben and Brian Goldsmith have been having a great season burning up the basketball court in our Youth Hoopster basket ball league. On Tuesday morn ings our “Moovers & Groovers” have been enjoying themselves with Tim Frank. Ethan Wohl and Andrew London cannot get enough of this class. If football is your game come down to the “J” and join Chad Glazer, Jason Kaplan and Corey Goldfarb as they burn up the gridiron in our after-school flag football league with Vann Spears. A hearty Mazel Tov goes out to Kathryn and James Sawrey on the birth of their daughter. I am sure that it will not be long when we see the little one cheer ing “Scooter’ on during his basketball league games. On a sad note we wish the best to Marvin Kaplan as he leaves Charlotte for California. I guess the softball league will have to resort to the plan-B free agent plan to replace him. ' With spring just around the corner, the “J” youth soccer program will be preparing for the upcoming season. Anyone interested in becoming a volun teer coach should contact Vann Spears in the Physical Education department. How about the construction of the new “J” fitness room? It won’t be long until it is complet ed. We are looking forward to seeing everyone taking advan tage of one of the finest exercise facilities around. Finally, the tips of the month: Andy Baron, bend your knees when executing your kill-shot; Cary Bernstein, don’t wait until the Stairmaster is smoking to decide that you’ve worked out long enough; Ellen Goldberg, take it easy on Bobby Damsky during those Thursday night racquetball matches; Mike Schreibman, after you spike the volleyball please replace the divit in the gym floor! See you all next month!!! DATING SERVICE WHAT IS IT? The Matchmaker Dating Ser vice is the hottest thing that has hit Charlotte's Jewish singles community. If you’re turned off by “Let me fix you up,” or the “Happy Hour” routine, this is a chance to meet someone who you want to meet and who wants to meet you! HOW DOES IT WORK? Call 366-5007 to schedule your appointnrient with a Matchmaker, or drop by the JCC any Tuesday, from 6-9 p.m. or Sunday, from 2-5 p.m. Bring a recent photo. If one is not available, a Matchmaker will “whoot” you on the spot (with a Polaroid)! The Matchmaker volunteers will give you a short Personal Profile form to fill out that identifies your interests, personality traits and general information. Your photo and profile are then stored in a viewing book. Members are identified by first name and ID number. Members can look through the books and request up to three dates per viewing session at the cost of $2 per selection.
