By Beth Davis The Charlotte Jewish Preschool PTO hosted over 100 parents, teachers, friends and alumni at a gala event Saturday, May 4 at TPC Piper Glen. The 1997 Silent Auction raised over $7,000 for CJP, and was its most successful fund raising event ever. "Our committee has been working on this auction since February," said Auction Chairperson Sherri Leonard. "We were fortunate to have such a wide variety of items for sale — restaurant gift certif icates, massages, gift baskets, even a trampoline. We appreciate all of the businesses in the community that supported our school." Parents and even students in the school provided items for the auction. Bidding was most competitive for the painted floor mats made by each classroom. As Debbie Ward, coordinator of all of the classroom baskets said, "The creativity of the room mothers just amazes me. They had such wonderful ideas including a Death by Chocolate Basket, a Spoil Me Rotten Basket and a Kids Travel Basket. Each room seemed to have a good time putting them together." A big thank you goes to the committee who assisted Sherri Leonard by putting in hour^ and hours of work — Beverly Grey, Debbie Ward, Ann Sinsheimer, Andrea Cronson, Leigh Anne Goodman and the many parents who solicited donations. CJP also thanks Beth Mattos (an alunmi parent) for the generous contribution by her company. Creative Art Promotions, in providing all of the decorations and accessories for the festive island feel for the evening. As Sherri and Beverly said about the evening, "It would not have been possible without the generous donations from so many area businesses. Many, many thanks on behalf of Charlotte Jewish Preschool."
