Widely known for her life and thoughts, Lillian Heilman is identified inextricably with the political persecutions of the McCarthy era and the House Un-American Activities Committee. The great woman of letters relives her life while awaiting word on the health of her life-long companion, Dashiell Hammett, in a New York hospital waiting room, January 10, 1961.
