Second Anniversary Is Celebrated
47th Battalion
Wins Sports
Championship
Scoring a grand total of 319^
points, the 47th Battalion pre-
<iominat6d in every event to easily
win the Regimental Sports Cham
pionship on Wednesday evening.
Some 2,000 spectators were
present to witness the five con
tests which were run off simul
taneously on Fetzer Field and in
the outdoor swimming pool.
Final results gave the 47th 44
points in track to 43 for the 48th,
46 points in swimming to 38 for
the 49th, 32 points in wrestling to
29 for the 51st, and 13 points in
boxing to 4 for the 50th. The soc
cer game between the 47th and
5lst ended in a 2-2 deadlock after
two overtime periods failed to
break the tie.
In second place, some 139%
Points behind the leaders, was the
48th Battalion with 180 points.
The 51st was third with 168%, the
49th fourth with 102, and the 50th
fifth with 60.
While the 47th won four of the
five first places, the other bat
talions participating caused the
champions plenty of trouble. Only
One point separated the final track
Score, three points the wrestling,
and eight the swimming.

Cloudbusters Defeat UNC, 3-0,
Behind Somerville’s Six Hitter
Roger Somerville let Carolina down with six hits as the Cloud
busters defeated the University of North Carolina, 3 to 0, here Wed
nesday afternoon.
Thirty-five hundred fans—among them Rear Admiral George D.
Murray, USN, Chief of Naval Air Training, and Rear Admiral O. B.
Hardison, USN, Chief of Naval Air Primary Training—saw the

brated its second anniversary.
