More and more ,of the physical training officers were moved out! iriains clear so that he can com Pilots Get Anti-G Suits To Withstand Violent Maneuvers Navy fighter pilots are now wearing armor against the force of gravity in the form of a new flying suit which greatly in creases their ability to withstand the stress of violent combat maneuvers. In the past the only answer to “blacking out” while coming out of a steep dive has been perfect physical condition and careful flying. The new anti blackout suits, Anti-G suits, Z suits, or Zoot suits, as they have been variously called, effectively prevent “greyout” and “black out,” and greatly increase the pilot’s ability to maintain clear vision during combat maneuvers. One of the most difficult prob lems involved in designing such a suit was to get one both easy to use and light enough in weight for the tropical climates where Navy and Marine pilots have been doing most of their combat flying. The new suit weighs only three pounds and almost equals in comfort the summer flying suit it is designed to replace. Coming out of a dive, the pilot wearing the suit still feels the heavy pull of centrifugal force which makes his hands and feet feel seven or eight times their normal weight, but his head re- to join many of the flyers they helped to train. The program, under Wickhorst, was put into effect upon every carrier in the fleet. It was felt thjat unless facilities and trained personnel were provided to keep the flyers in shape once they got into com bat much of the physical train ing during the early days would be wasted. For this same reason, physical training officers are at all foreign bases where there are Naval aviation units. plete the maneuver properly. ’Buster-Butner Tilt Off, No Chance For Revenge The Cloudbuster basket ball team will not get an opportunity to gain revenge on Camp Butner, it has been disclosed, because the game scheduled for tomorrow at Woollen Gym has been can celled. —Save Fuel—Save Paper— New Cadet Regimental Staff mm HI New cadet regimental officers from the 63rd Battalion, left to right, are: Edward F.
