TWO FAIRS ***** MISUNDERSTANDING * * NO COOPERATION * * o At this time there seems to be a great confu sion, a stir and a misunderstanding in regard to who should have a Fair, who has the right to have a Fair, and who should give way to the other. From the very outset this paper will take nei ther side of the argument but we will print the facts as they are. The facts follow: The first Fair announcement for 1935 appear ed in the February 14th issue of the Nash Coun ty News and states; “Plans for a Community Fair are already started. It will be about the us ual time and, will be sponsored by the Methodist and Baptist Churches.” The next announcement came on March 7th by the ‘Spring Hope Community Agricultural Fair Association’, “We will stage our annual Fair for one week, beginning September 16, 1935, with the B & B Shows’ playing the Fair.” The next announcement appeared on March 14th when The Community Fair (Churches) named their official.; for the 1935 Fair and stat ed, —“A definite date will be set later.” SALE OF LAND | For 1934 T axes j Notice is hereby Kiven that in pursuance to law hnade and provid ed for the sale of lands and chat tels, for taxes, I have levied on the. following properties in the Town of Sprint? Pine & Ne The Town Board passed a resolution back in March rhat no Carnival, other than the one sponsored by the Churches play in Spring Hope this year. The Agricultural Fair Association has a char ter issued by the State while the Community Fair Association does not. Neither Fair Association has a permit from the Department of Agriculture. The Church Fair has had published and distribu ted their premium list while the Community Fair has done nothing along this line. All in all it goes to show that “a house divided against itself cannot stand. ’ In order for any thing to be the greatest success, there has to be full cooperation. The Sprina Hope People should get together and work as a unit, rather than pull in different directions as they now are. Why not have a meeting of these different Fair Associations, and at this meeting, work out a plan which would be suitable to all concerned? One big fair would be better than two small ones. Even one small one would be better than two smaller ones. o GREAT AMERICANS o Well, all I know is what I read in the papers— a line made famous by that beloved and well known character, Will Rogers. But no more will, we see those words that we all have come to know so well. When Will and his great friend, Wiley Post were killed, the whole world suffered a great loss. Those two men tfere typical of what every man should strive for. They were continually striving to do something for the betterment and progress of this world of ours. Wiley Post work ing to increase man’s speed and control over the elements, and Will trying to make others happy. We all know that no one can ever take the place of either of them, but let us all try to imi tate the example set by these two great Ameri cans. R. R. Sts. 26.45 T. H.
