PLANT MAMAGER'S MESSAGE
By: J. Anand
Our fiscal year ended on October 3 i, eind all
results for this year are ready. I will be having
employee meetings soon in which we will discuss our
results. Except in the area of safety the plant
made improvements in most areas. We will also be
talking about our objectives for the next year.
Our major concentration for next year has to be in
the area of improved customer satisfaction and
reduced rework in the pljint.
As you may know by now, Marty Yonas will be moving
to Akron to head up the manufacturing for all North
American tire plants. We all wish him well in his
new assignment. A replacement for Marty has not
been announced as yet.

CUSTOMER OOHMEWTS
By: Jeff Iteavner
Gastonia received a letter from Mr. Bob Girardin
at Wilson congratulating us on a fine example of
process improvement. He was referring to
fiberglass headers and how they had reduced the
scrap in Wilson's process.
Jaggy Anand and I returned from our Mexico trip
encouraged by what we had seen. As reported in a
previous newsletter, (Jastonia has shipped fabric
to Cuernavaca, Mexico for tlie first time in more
than a year. We had lost tliis business because
they could buy a better quality of fabric from
ASAHI. The specific reason for this visit was to
follow our fabric through Mexico's process.
Cuernavaca was impressed at the improvement in the
quality of our nylon fabric. We also had the
opportunity to see material produced my ASAHI ^lnd
were very impressed. Their nylon is flat ^md very
uniform from one end to the other. We will need
everyone's input and cooperation if we are to
replace ASAHI as the major supplier of fabric to
Mexico.
Gastonia Is awaiting feedback from Reeves
Brothers concerning tlie approval of our style
691^*. If approved, tlie volume will fill the West
End's capacity. We should know something by the
next newsletter.
