PAI PURSERS MEET, SWAP IDEAS April second found fhe sysf«m oursers meeting in full oro- aress in the Old County Home at INT. An excellent turnout of about 18 men made the meeting a great success • G. H, Willard ooened the meet ing by outMnfnq the program for the morning a-nd a few sug gestions were offered which were later taken up with the executives concerned. Mr. R.E. Turbivllle and Mr. Ken l?oss came before the guns and a few suggestions offered were to unify the giving of papers to purser, calling flights too far In advance, passenger mani fests and forms at CVGF and other pertinent station diffi culties. Mr* Turbivllle was relieved by Mr* H. M* Cartwright who took up loading conditions with re stricted seating, safety from the pursers^ viewpoint, and feft after a very informative discussion on "Hazardous Blue Poom Cond i t ? on s". The writer believes that an ex cellent meeting was held and the things brought out should be heeded to the highest as these boys fly dally and cover most, If not all, of the system. From this they have a first hand knowledge of situations which may not be severely wrong but need correcting* To those who may not ride constantly with them It appears to be an EASY job but It takes more skill than you realize once a year N^SA. A good recipe for a purser may be a tablespoon of diplomacy, tact and courtesy, seasoned well with personality and loy- alty, garnished with a dash of psychology and In some cases, nursing, stir well and pour Into a uniform* Can you qualify? J.^. "Bob" Reagan, also of radio maintenance Is now a " I and-baron", having just purchased a new home. Dot Wicker, INTC, who was se lected to play the part of "Tessle Twlrpbottom" in the Winston-Salem Arts Follies, made quite a hit on GSO TV In a preview skit. Walt Rollick of INTC made honorable mention recently with a personally baked cake in a "husbands can bake" con test here. INT FIXED BASE OKAYED FOR KOREA VET FLIGHT TRAINING Hoppy Dunne Is on the lookout for a cha I k-carry I ng culorlt who gave her link trainer a new title - namely - "Hong Kong Pacemaker"* Anyone with chalky fingers steer clear for a while or have a good story ready. I guess by now you al I know that we have been approved to give flight training to Korean vet erans. If you are Interested drop us a note or stop by and weMI give you all the Infor mation we can regarding same. We*d like to take this opportun ity to thank all the fellows who have helped us out with our flight Instruction from time to time. Believe me, It certainly Is appreciated and lightens the load when we need it most, which keeps everybody happy. By the way, we have some new Ray Ban's on hand - the regular shaded ones and also some new ones that look like a pretty good deal. If your money or crcdlt Is good, don’t hesitate to call on us . OF C. OF AIR TRAVEL GAIN ■ Air travel has so shortened time today that Johnson City Is closer to Los Angeles now than it was to Bristol back In the horse and buggy days, Tom Davis, President of Piedmont Airlines, told members of the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce e a r I y last mon t h. Mr. Davis addressed the 36th annual meeting of the civic or ganization, outlining the his tory of air transportatI on dur ing the past fifty years and said that "transportation and aviation have come to be the most important factors in the commerce of the nation". He described air travel as "a great boon to mankind drawing all peoples of the world closer together with a better under standing of everyone^s problems, enhancing the chance for peace". Mr. Davis was Introduced to the meeting by Nat T* Winston, re tiring president, and expressed his appreciation for the re ception accorded him, adding "we feel an obligation greater than we will ever be able to fill". ^ INT FIXED BASE (CONTI NUED) the same.
