NEW EMPLOYEES BOOST FORCE AT ROA; SEEK 3000 - MONTH Since we have been delinquent In reporting the last couple of months, we have much to report In the line of new employees* First, Mm sure everyone over the system knows BIN Hale (a former purser). Bill Is now agent in ROA and reports quite a difference In change - not only In atmosphere but In scope of work. You'll make it, Billl Other additions to our family are Don Suphin, Rex Cumby and Don White. Welcome aboard, fellows# AN of these are utility agents, but stand fast, fellows, most of us were at one time or another. At this time I would like to Insert a little quotation that I picked up along the Mne somewhere* Just remember- "Tls the set of the sail, and not the gale, that determines the way we go" I guess everyone is aware that we no longer have the able assistance of our former chief agent. Bill Anspach. Bill Is now station manager at LYH, We understand that he is now enjoy ing a quiet and we I 1-deserved vacation up In the Keystone State (Reading, Pa.l. From this corner, we all believe Bill Is a much deserving person of this promotion and we do miss his presence. Good luck. Bill* We no longer have Bob McCloud with us as Bob is now serving with the AAF. Again, Bob, we wish you all success* After talking with our station manager, George Ivery, and reading the last edition of the Pledmonltor, we feel like maybe we were be Ing‘s I I ghted - not intentionally, but through an oversight. After computing an analysis of passengers boarded, there might be a chance of us becoming the first member of the 3 000 club* In all races there is a dark horse, so remember, fel lows, we may be the dark horse* So friends, relations, on and off line stations, 1*11 bid you all "adlos” Mel Ray ■jf -N- -Jf -JJ- ^ ■!*• -j:- -2- GARDENING HEADS RDU HOBBIES Pledmonltor news Is a little icarce at this station. I am sure the PA I people at RDU do as many interesting things and have as many Interesting hob bles as the PAI people at the other stations* It Is just your reporter’s inability to report these things for the Pledmonitor* For instance. Chief Bill Jett is quite a gardener In these parts. He had a most productive garden this s umme r and furnished s ome of the less Industrious in the RDU station with fresh vege tables such as tomatoes, beans a nd other things. An o th e r In our midst Is Lou Briggs. Now that boy comes from so far South that he thinks North Carolina is Yankee Land. He has almost gotten Into trouble by referring to some of the local yokels as Yankees. He says "youall” and means it* We have a lot of other char acters here, too, but will save them for a later date* HOME OFFICE COMVERTS TO WINTER HOURS On August 31, al I Home Office personnel began observing winter working hours of 8:30 to 5:30* Due to the many requests re ceived for earlier hours dur ing the summer months, office hours were advanced to 8:00 to 5:00 for June, July, and August* This Is the first time such a plan has been placed In effect. The plan appeared to be so widely acceptable that It will probably become standard prac tice for summer general office per sonneI. the problem present ed to most employees in arranging school transportation for their children. It is necessary to revert to standard hours of 8:30 to 5:30 during winter mon th s . * -5{- *:r -j:* -j:- •>:- -Jr PINCH YOURSELF Any time you discover that neither your friends nor your enemies are saying unkind things about you, you have reason to be a I armed. You may be dead and not know Itl Thanks to Mr. Golson for hon orable mention last month* Ace Reporter Adding further proof to the adage "lt*s never too late", Mrs. Ida Wentz, 77-year old Charlotte mother of six children, recently boarded a Piedmont flight at CLT for Lawton, Oklahoma, where she visited with her son* Shown boarding the Pacemaker above, Mrs. Wentz is assisted by Capt.
