Just a "Harmless Hitchhiker!” So she says...Harmless looking? Yes...Like the fruits, plants, ^ and meats @sl^that "Miss Bug” hides in. That’s why the U. S. Department of Agriculture uses this tricky female to remind travelers not and to bring back foreign fruits, plants, meats^-;^that often hide destructive "hitchhiking” foreign bugs. You see, once in the U. S., these bugs c^^destroy millions of dollars worth of ci-opS' livestock,'(^^3^'o''®®**' ornamental shrubs. Name the Bug! CONTEST RULES The airlines of the United States are cooperating with the Department of Agriculture in a campaign to alert U.S. visitors and returning residents to the dangers of transporting bugs in food or plants. To tell the story, Agriculture has created a symbol, the little lady hitchhiker. But she needs a name. To help her lind one, the Air Transport Association is sponsoring a contest for airline employees. Just fill in the clipping. Send it off—and as many others as you want to. First prize is a $100 U.S. Savings Bond; second prize, a $50 bond; and third prize, a $25 bond. The deadhne is March 15, 1966.
