SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER, 1972 THE PIEDMONITOR PAGE FIVE Interesting Interlining Christmas Parties In Far Away Places Good-bye Las Vegas, Hello, San Juan. . . . The traditional World Airline Employees Christmas Party has a new location this year. For the past 14 years, this bash was put on in Las Vegas, thanks to special hotel rates and the drawing power of one-armed bandits and the gala floor shows available at the desert re sort city. But this year, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is extending a personal invita tion to all Airline Red Barons to enjoy the sun drenched island paradise. This annual fling ends the old year with a yell and starts the new with a bang. The best thing about these Airline Christmas Parties is that every year they get bigger and better. It starts Dec. 1, and doesn’t quite wind up in 1973, coming to a close Dec. 12 — or 12 con secutive days of solid fun and excitement, or relaxation, if you can take the time. Just pick the dates you want to take off. HIGHLIGHTS this year include water ski ing, the traditional paper airplane contest, a “briefest bikini” contest, hospitality suites, dancing, entertainment, wake-up Bloody Mary parties, cocktail receptions, free door prizes, a “real” Western outdoor barbecue get- together, a sangria party, and an American Airlines Interline Tennis Tournament. Space will be limited, so if you want to get in on the fun, act now. Room rates are $13 per person single. You can have a non-ocean front room for $6 per person double. There’s an $8.50 registration fee per person, too. Include your name, airline, your home ad dress, business and home telephone numbers, dates you want to attend, number of persons in your party and your arrival time. Specify the type of room you want — ocean front or not. Send your checks made payable to World Airline Employees Christmas Party, Suite 603, 565 Fifth Avenue, New York, N.Y. 10017. If you have any questions, you may also call — (212) 682-8740. If you would rather celebrate Christmas California style there is an Airline Travel In ternational Christmas party planned for San Francisco December 6-16. This bash in SFO is sponsored by airlines, tourist bureaus and the Holiday Inns of the City By The Bay. There are three Holiday Inns, one in the Fi nancial District of Chinatown, another at the Civic Center and a third at Fisherman’s Wharf. Interliners get an $8 rate per person per night (plus tax) on a double occupancy basis. Sponsors are arranging something to do every day: cocktail parties, sightseeing, shopping tours (and what a great place to do your Christmas shopping!) fashion shows, plus a Christmas ball.
