Its N-number is 751, The two other 737s that joined the fleet during 1972, N049 and N749, were named Bluegrass and Manhattan Pacemakers. Board Report Says Our Passengers Are Happiest Piedmont is bacl\ on top in the latest Civil Aeronautics Board’s Consumer Report. For the months of October and November they recorded fewer complaints per 100,000 boardin^^•s from Piedmont passenj>ers than for any other airline in the continental United States. The year-to-date figures also revealed Pied mont has had far fewer total complaint letters than the other carriers. Through the month of November we’ve had only 60 letters. With one exception, all other airlines are well over the 100 letter mark. In October Piedmont had .68 complaint letters per 100,000 enplanements and for No vember the report showed Piedmont with 1.54. Not only are our passengers happier than anyone else’s, they are happier than they were last year. The figures showed a 25'/ decrease for Piedmont in the number of letters through November this yeai' compared with the same period in 1971. Our happy passengers are also Hying in record numbers. More than 58,000 were board ed during the November Thanksgiving holi days. A new single-day boarding record was set Wednesday the 22nd when 13,217 passengers were enplaned. This eclipsed the old record of 12,256 set on Sunday after Thanksgiving last year. This record lasted only three days until Sunday, November 26th, when a total of 13,728 travellers Hew the Pacemaker routes and established our current record day. The new all-time high capped ofi' the six day November 22-27 holiday travel period that saw Piedmont carry 58,378 passengers. Senior V-Ps Accept Honors and Awards I? T. W. Northington was recently named Beech Aircraft Corpora tion’s “Man of The Year” for 1972. Presentation of the award was made by Mrs. 0. A. Beech, chairman of the board, and Leddy Greever, Beech Aircraft vice president- corporate director. They said Northington was selected to receive the award “for his leader ship, service dedication and accomplishments in aircraft marketing which have contributed to the growth and prosperity of the industry.” He joins a highly select group of Beech- craft distributors to receive the coveted honor and permanent placement in the “Beechcraft Hall of Fame”. Others include the late Col. Ros- coe Turner, W. P. Cutter and Norman Larson. Another recent honor for Piedmont Aviation, Inc. was an award for our 1971 Annual Report to Stockholders. Senior Vice President T. W. Morton accepted the third place certificate in the Annual Report Survey sponsored by Fi nancial World, the nation’s oldest business and financial weekly. The presentation was made by Ralph E. Bach, president of Financial World. Approximately 5,000 annual reports were re viewed in 91 classifications this year in the annual competition to promote the improve ment of shareholder financial statements.
