Gat ling was flying with the ’’Hell's Belles” squadron & dived from 6000 ft to a 1500 foot lever off & dropped a bomb which Ian ded on an Italian Destro er squarely amidships Blue black smoke burst forth leaving the ■ ship in flames, Gatling is the son of Mr, & Mrs, J, I. Gatling.Young Gatling was a Tarboro High foot ball star & during Army training had the 3^ best Ariel Gunnery score ever recorded in the East,
