Main Street Hi ghllAKub^. -■ DR. SARGENT TO SPEAK Most visitors and residents have probably been curious to know soinething of the splendid wildflowers now bloom ing in the Highlands area. Using color ed slides, Dr. Ralph M. Sargent will discuss those flowers now in bloom and those which will be blooming in Septem ber. Dr. Sargent is a trustee of the Highlands Biological Station and its former president. He is now president of the Philadelphia Botanical Clubj his recent activities include lectures on plant life in Philadelphia Wilmington and Detroit. Dr. Sargent is a professor of English at Haverford College; but he has been a long-time summer resident of Highlands and has studied the mountain flora extensively. This illustrated lecture entitled "Late Summer and Early Fall Flowers of the Highlands Area," will be given at 8sOO p.m. on Uiesday, August 12th, at the Miseum of Natural History on Horse Cove Road. Everyone is invited to attend free of charge. The story revolves around the ex periences of a short-order cook, Moore, who invokes the aid of the Devil, Cook, in an attempt to make it X'jith the wait ress in the restaurant, Eleanor Bron, whom he adores. In his search for hap piness, Ifoore meets the Seven Deadly Sins, including Lust, played by Raquel Welch. "Bedazzled" is being described as a modern version of the classic Faust theme. It’s true that in the filin we have a contemporary Devil granting his victim seven wishes in return for his soul, but we mustn’t press the similarity beyond that. Goethe’s Faust is a deep intellectual probing man’s predicament. "Bedazzled" takes a farcical approach. Nevertheless, it has intellectual integ rity.
