"BROTHER JOHN"
Sidney Poitier, in this allegorical
melodrama, plays a mysterious world-
traveler who is revealed at the end to
be an emissary of the Creator himself
sent to pass judgment on the sinners on
earth. Until that startling revlation,
"Brother John" plays like a kind of
mystery movie in which everyone in the
small Alamaman tox-m in which Poitier was
born and to which he has returned tries
to fathom his baffling behavior and
motives. Will Beer is good as the old
doctor who eventually discovers the,true
identity of Poitier. Audiences taking
the filin as a detective thiiller - which
it is possible to do most of the way-
may find the super-natural denouement
a letdown. A competent cast includes
Beverly Todd, Ramon Bieri and Bradford
Dil3jnan. "BROTHER JOHN" will play Pri-
