Have Ball, Will Travel reads
the card of the AC basketball
team- The Bulldogs have not
played in Wilson Gym since Nov.
23 when they routed Pembroke
State University 91-66. Since that
time the Dogs have traveled
from Greensboro to Orlando,
Fla. stopping intermittenly in
ffiJson for short rests.
AC’s first game of the year
also brought their first loss at
the hands of the High Point
purple Panthers.
Not being down and out, the
Dogs bounced back with their
rout over the Pembroke State
Braves. Fresh from theiw win,
the Dogs set off for Burlington to
participate in the Burlington
CivitanTournament. The jinx of
the road all started here. AC
dropped both game in the
tovrney, losing to Western
Carolina in the opening game
and to Carolinas Conference foe,
Elon College.
The AC team left for the Citrus
Invitational Tournament the
following Thursday in Lakeland
Fla. The course of the road was
still behind them. AC met
Bethune-Cookman in the
opening game and lost 105-77.
Bryan Chalk showed tremen-
dious ability pouring in 23 points
with Cliff Black not far behind
with 22. In the consolation game
Saturday night, The Bulldogs
took on La Grange College also
of Florida and were overcome
86-80. The Dogs showed a very
even attack placing four men in
double figures with Chalk
leading in collecting 21.
On their return trip to Wilson,
the team stopped off in Orlando,
Fla. to challenge Rollins
College. (You remember, that
Rollins beat Georgia and
Georgia beat NC State — for
whatever its worth)
The Rollins team had a
slugfest literally knocking
Bryan Chalk out of the game and
requiring Joe Jeffcoat to receive
stitches for a laceration under
the eye. Rollins took the contest
in a hard “fought” battle 107-98.
Thus the Bulldogs stand 1-7
and still have one more game on
the road before coming home to
Wilson Gym. The team will meet
Elon College at Elon Thursday
night trying to revenge a loss to
the Fighting Christians in the
Burlington Civitan Tournament,
and will also be trying to shake

The A.C. Girl’s Volleyball
Team ended their season with
matches against Campbell and
East Carolina, their only two of
the season at home.
Against Campbell, the girls
got off to a slow start and lost the
first game 15-7 to the Buies
Creek teeam. The next two
games were pretty easy for the
A.C. girls who won 15-3 behind
the scoring of Vicki Gilbert, and
15-7 on the lead scoring of Diane
Williams.
The AC Junior Varsity took the
first two-games 15-12 and 15-9
with little trouble. Phaff and
